I am new to the S10 world and did a search, but did not find what I was looking for. I have a Givi V46 on my FJR and I would like to use it on the S10 when riding two-up. I have read about the Altrider plate cracking, is there a better alternative to mount the Givi?

As a new owner myself I have found that Givi do two rear racks for my ST. Because my UK basic spec one comes with no Yamaha rack at all, I could only fit one of the two types, the SR371 which has two brackets taking the place of the rack that would normally be there. Even though I had no rack, I still had to remove a covering plastic plate (3 bolts) to reveal the four bolts underneath that the Givi rack mounts to. It is very solid and I clicked my Givi Trekker top box straight on.

The Givi site is playing up at the moment but you should be able to see the attached links showing the plate and its fixings on this supplier's site.

I just put the Givi bike specific plate on last Thursday. I had a 56L top box on the Beemer I traded. It is a rock solid mount. I have never had trouble with one yet.

I had a Altrider rack crack on me. It had been overloaded and tortured for years. I got another one. If it cracks. Gonna put my Bumot on.

It is not as much a V46 vs V47 issue, but sounds like different mounting plates. There is the MonoLock style, and MonoKey style. These are not interchangeable, although, you could just get the appropriate plate, and install it on the racks you have.
