Question for the group...I'm bouncing between the Givi Outbacks (37/48 combo with a 54L top box) and the Bumot setup with the 42L top box. I'm concerned about the width of the Givi setup (40.5" according to a previous post). I'm coming off of a Tiger 800XC that had OEM panniers with 36" width. Is the extra width that noticeable? I'll be mainly on the road, so I'm less concerned about the single track type of riding.

Another consideration is that I can get the padded backrest for the Givi, while the Bumot looks somewhat uncomfortable to lean up against for my wife.

Any thoughts on this (especially from any Bumot or Givi owners)?

Thanks!

The width in the back isn't noticeable at all. Are you concerned about lane splitting while riding on the road?

I ordered the 37/48 panniers and the 52 top case with the lock set and top case pad. Went with motostormit. Wish I knew about getting out of the taxes when I paid twice for my order from spidi Italy. They won't get me this time though!

No, I don't do that...just concerned about the bike being as wide as a cage... ::)

Thanks!

I just jumped in with an order from motostorm.it. Thanks to all in this thread who have gone before me and had the experience and wisdom to help me make my decision. According to their website, the cases are in stock, but the rack is back ordered for 7 or 8 days.

I went with the 37/48 in black and the PL2119CAM rack. Here is a copy of the order summary, which motostorm.it emailed within a minute of clicking the paypal button. Please tell me if you see a bad part number, lol. I had about 65 different combinations in the cart at various times, so I'm sure I probably screwed up when it counted.

Product number: 1
Code: GIVI-OBK48BR
Description: Givi Suitcase Right Trekker Aluminium Outback 48lt BLACK on offer Size: ONE SIZE
Price: € 245,08
Quantity: 1
Total product price: € 245,08

Product number: 2
Code: givi_OBK37BL
Description: GIVI TREKKER OUTBACK 37LT LEFT BLACK on offer Size: ONE SIZE
Price: € 215,74
Quantity: 1
Total product price: € 215,74

Product number: 3
Code: GIVI-PL2119CAM
Description: GIVI PL2119CAM Size: ONE SIZE
Price: € 133,61
Quantity: 1
Total product price: € 133,61

SubTotal: € 594,43
Delivery charges: € 29,00

Total order: € 623,43

According to paypal invoice, this equates to $727.92.

Thanks again everyone for sharing your experiences here. It really helped me a lot.

If you want them keyed the same I think you need to buy a three key set. That's what motostorm told me when I emailed them. Might throw in a backrest pad for the top case too. If you add those two you'll have my exact order. A little warning, I've been waiting awhile. They say should ship today though. Well see

My set came with the matching lock set for 3. I was able to swap out the older tumbler on my Trekker top box so now one key opens all three. Didnt have to pay extra for it.

I am curious about the matching lock set for 3. My dealer ordered me the 37L and 48L from Givi. I received those with two separate keys. When I asked Givi about the 2 keys, they said it's because they were ordered separately. I will be ordering a topcase and will most likely get a 3rd key. Is it possible to switch out the tumblers after the fact with a new keyed set for the 3 from Givi?

Yes, you can switch them out. I ordered the same setup from Motostorm.it along with the 3 lock set. The lock parts just came in a plastic bag for DIY installation. The lock cylinders are fairly easy to change out. Several small phillips screws from the inside of the case to remove the locks and then a nut on the back side to take the cylinder out. Watch out for the small detent ball. Then reverse and put it back together. After the first one, so you can see how everything goes together, the other two are easier.

BTW: Motostorm was a little off on their estimated shipping time. Once the items were shipped, they got held up in customs until I sent sent two emails detailing what the items were, their use, etc. After they were released it didn't take long to get them.

I just looked it up. They shipped in two weeks and took another week in transit with the delays. Seemed like a lot longer when waiting for something to arrive. A very good experience with Motostorm and well worth the wait for the savings.

Thank you. Very good to know. I'll have to look into this Motostorm for when I am not in a hurry. I just ordered my 58L Trekker Outback topcase from eBay. The black version is on backorder from Givi until at least mid June and they are out of stock everywhere else I checked in the States, so this was the only option I could find in hopes of receiving before Memorial weekend. 50/50 chance of it making it on time though.

I ordered my long list of items from Motostorm back on April 30th, got shipment notification from Fedex today. I ordered the black 37/48L combo with the side racks (which were what delayed the order), the black 58L topcase, backrest pad, waterproof liners for all boxes, and the three lock set to key them the same. Overall, the experience has been good and would buy from them again.

Now for the excruciating wait for the boxes to arrive!

I installed mine last night. It ess easy, including the lock change so they are keyed the same. My only gripe is that the right side case won't hinge open with the top case on. I moved the teathers to the outside so it can hang but I'm gonna work on a better solution. I'll rarely ride with all the cases on though so not too big a deal. I couldn't find any pics of this setup when I was doing for cases so here are some pics for those who are considering it. Hard to make out but I have the back pad on the top case.

Looks good on your bike doc. 4 days from Italy to Illinois? not bad at all. I'm hoping mine ship soon, but it's only been 5 days since placing order, so maybe another week.... or two....waiting on rack to get off backorder. Still, time I do have... money not so much, so it's worth the wait to me.

My bags from Motostorm finally made it to Austin! They showed up via Fedex yesterday. Fedex figured out there was no duty on them, which held them up for a day or so. For the record, it took about three weeks to get them (the mounting rack is backordered). Changed out the locks to work on a single key. They may build nice luggage but their instructions really stink.

Overall, very happy with the purchase, have not had a chance to ride with them yet (it keeps raining in Texas), but they look good!

One question for those that have this setup. My left side rack is just barely rubbing the exhaust shield (the front side of the mount). Anyone else had this issue?

My left side rack is also very close to the exhaust shield. It actually came with a rubber spacer that is fitted to the rack and contacts the shield at all times. Seems to be ok, it might leave a rub mark over time. Nothing a sticker couldn't fix should it ever be removed.

All in all, I'm really happy with motostorm.it. I ordered the 37/48 side panniers with rack, 12 days from order to my house, that included the 6 or 7 day back order on the rack. Will not hesitate to buy from them again in the future.
