Hello, I am New here and I just got A 2012 S10 and it is Awesome! I have been looking at the Givi Trekker cases, I was told by Revzilla customer service that the trekker side bags can not fully open if you have a top case on at the same time? Does this sound right? I have looked a many reviews and never seen anyone say this. I cant see how there would be any problems by looking at pictures of s10's with the bags installed. could someone who has the 33l and a 46l cases give me you advice on the bags before i spend all that money and not be able to use the bags... thanks!

Are you referring to the Givi Trekkers or the new yet to be released in the US Trekker Outbacks? I have the Trekkers 33l on the left side, 46l on right and for top case and have no issues with that.
The post I saw on the Outback cases was that the top load lids would hit one of the other type Givi top case.

Never been an issue with this Trekker case setup. Both sides open.

I love my trekkers. Not sure how robust they'd be on a drop as compared to a Jesse where you'd pound it out (hehehe) or reweld. But I try to keep it civilized with my panniers on until I get to my destination.

Only gripe is that rain water pools in the handle area (you'll see). But, simply take em off quick and dump it out before opening and you'll be fine. Super waterproof though and awesome quick release open/close and removal.

I exploded a trekker in an off road crash at the end of the Colorado trip. It broke a hinge and snapped the latch into about 3pieces and the lock fell out. But I did like them, they look good on the tenere, and after the crash I just moved the broken one to my AltRider top rack and the large trekker to the pannier side. It's nice that they are all interchangeable. I also was not able to find the hinge pin after the crash. I'm not sure if it had vibrated out prior to the crash, but could be a reason the pannier lock, hinge, and latch blew to pieces.

anyone got these cases that could post some measurements of the 33L? i'm thinking of buying a set. I was thinking a 45, and a 33 standard trekker. not the outback trekker.

Dimensions on the 33L: 20.7"L x 16.2"W x 9"D (526 x 411 x 230 mm). This is OD. I'd take ~3/16" off each measurement for thickness. I have the first model revision where the didn't add the additional side buckles for added water tightness. Fine by me as I didn't have a problem with water before, plus I waterproof stuff sack all my "need to be dry" gear.

Good practice as I suspect these cases are "exploders" in the case of a fall, to keep my gear from growing wings. The side cases will pool a little bit of water in the handle area, but they don't leak till you open them ;) take 'em off the rack first and your problem's solved.

thank you for the replies and measurements. So is it safe to say that most dealers will have the latest version with the extra buckle(s)? I did read somewhere that the hinges let go also, but must have been on an older version.

Early sets would have the hinge pins walk out and go bye-bye. I lost a couple of pins until I put a dab of glue on the open end. Problem solved.
My first set of bags were replaced due to leaking issues, but the replacements still leak under certain conditions. They definitely hold water in the latch area.
I use a couple of the big XL (11 gallon) Hefty OneZip Big Bags in the side bags for extra water protection. Those bags also work well under a cargo net on the rear seat or rear rack.
I haven't seen any Trekkers with the extra latches.
Mine measure 39.5 inches in width, 33L on left and 46L on right with SW Motech racks.

thanks for your reply St adventure. I did the same thing when I had trax cases on my vstrom 650. even with new seals the cases leaked. I kicked myself for trading my givi e36nj cases for them. I liked the top opening, but my give's never leaked.

You guys considering the trekkers might want to give the Outback trekkers a second look. Width is pretty much the same but they are top-loading and much stronger.

will a riding jacket fit in hte 33l cases??
Easily. My Klim traverse with d3o fits with plenty of room.
