Givi panier frame repainting (HELP)

Hi guys,

i have a givi pannier rack been on bike 3-4 years getting a bit rusty, don,t want to powder coat it going to take it off sand a couple of areas down and re paint by can,

can you guys that know give me some ideas about what to use, once sanded can i just prime coat and black matt coat, not alot of rust but is their a spray paint that will hold the rust off longer, any advice please

I'm not sure what finish your racks have. Mine are semi matt, with a rough surface finish which appears to have been powder coated. This is not easy to prep successfully, but can be done.

If bad, the rusted areas may need to be treated with an acidic inhibitor such as Jenolite & the racks then resprayed with a rattle can of Hammerite .......... https://www.amazon.co.uk/Hammerite-5084778-Metal-Paint-Aerosol/dp/B0041WHCLI

hi squibb,

its the pl2119cam rack for the outback ally boxes, was going to take the cam part off and get them powder coated again

took them off, took the top cam section off as well there is a guy 10 minutes up the road he,s going to blast and powder coat them by the weekend £40 job done

Cheap way to get it done right.
You might consider putting some black electrical tape or other barrier between the metal when re-mounting them.

yer £40 to get them done right is cheaper sanding and can paint would,nt be good anyway, will do the electric tape thing to thank you
