I’m deciding between two Givi side cases for my 2017 Super Tenere. The 33lt monokey trekkers or the new 36lt monokey Alaska cases. I primarily ride on street with some occasional off road riding. Any experience and feedback with either of these two models?

I have the Alaska's and really really pleased with them, work really well and I like the shape ... off and on really easy and the locks work smoothly ... proper pleased with them.

Thanks for the reply. How far out to the bags extend out from the grab handles? I have a Givi V46 top box mounted on an Altrider rack that extends about 4 inches from the grab handles and wanted to make sure the Alaska lids will be able to open with this setup.

Hi, I can take a measurement tomorrow for you ans get back ... if it helps I have a Bumot Defender EVO TopBox Capacity: 43Ltr - Both box lids open freely but they are within a centimetre or so therefore pretty close.

Hi, hopefully I have understood what you mean?
I went out and measure the gap between the handrail and the side of the pannier lid ... on the exhaust side then its 2 inches and only 1 inch on the non-exhaust side. I guess its how wide your topbox is? as I said, both pannier lids are very, very close to the top box when opening them ... however they clear so I am very happy with them. Hope you get sorted ok which ever way you go ;)

Thanks for checking. My top box extends out 4 inches so I’m going with the monokey trekkers.

FWIW, I have the Givi Dolomiti cases, 36 or 37 litres each, with the 30 litre Dolomiti top box. Now I think the Dolomiti are the fore-runner of the Alaska cases and I think the dimensions are virtually identical. Mine are mounted on Givi PLR rails and when I open the right hand side case it can just touch the top box although there is enough movement in the hinges to avoid this. Personally, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.

Bought the alaska. The product includes the hinged bag system, but the easy hinge system interferes with the frame so you cannot latch the panniers to the frame. Without the hinge mechanism, panniers attach to the frame easily.

Also, I found the upper edge plates to be lameley glued. They fell off with the slightest force. The 4 top plates were all very poorly secured. I removed, scraped factory hot .melt adhesive off and re secured with silicon.

Bottom plates seemed better secured.
