Been using the center stand to mount the bike due to difficulty getting my big feet up and over the side bags. Would like to do the same to dismount but I cannot get he bike on the center stand while I'm still straddling the bike.

If anyone can do this, what's your technique?

Level ground, long legs, plant left foot and body weight solidly on centerstand tang, clean and jerk bike up on stand using handlebars and body momentum. I can't do it with panniers on. Rarely ever do it, just have done it a few times to know that I can.

Why not dismount using footpeg with bike on sidestand? That's typically how I do it when panniers are on.

Me either. It sounds like the sort of Wile E. Coyote plan that ends up with him trapped under a boulder.

Why not just stand on the left side footpeg when the bike is on the sidestand when you dismount? It'll give you a lot more height when you're swinging your leg off the rear of the bike. You have to to be a little careful if you need to pivot your left foot a little on the footpeg so it doesn't slip off, but it still sounds less risky than SilverBullet's maneuver. Kudos to you, SilverBullet, for mastering that technique on a 600 pound bike!

The reason I tried it is because on the only other bike I’ve ever owned that had a center stand (Suzuki burgman) I could do this with no problem. And that was also a 600lb bike. I guess it was just set up differently.

I need to practice dismounting from the pegs on the side stand. This is my first ADV bike and I’m still getting used to it.

The Burgman has a different center of gravity, it is low so although being the same weight the balance points are world's apart. I'm with the rest on this, use the side stand, dismount the center stand. I really would not attempt doing it while seated, it will not be just your ego that gets hurt if it goes wrong................

I could do that on the CT90...;)
Funny you say that. as I learned the technique 45 years ago on my first bike a 1970 CL70. Didn't know any better then, I have long legs, tried it that way and was easy so it stuck. Since then I used it regularly on my other centerstand equipped bikes; RD400 and GS750EN. Also successful on my V-Strom and Tenere but not as easy so never use it.

Sounds like a hernia in the making to me.
Au contraire, actually zero strain this way whereas an improper technique while standing next to the bike can be very hernia inducing. But key here to successful completion is long legs. Inseams less than ~35" need not apply. Also any side luggage prevents your leg from getting in position so doesn't work either.

Maybe if you were a Wookie; I'm in the same boat as RCinNC. I have the strength, but not the leg length.

When I mount up I'll hold the handlebar and grab my right pants leg and pick my foot up over the drivers seat and then just slide on the seat. Getting off I put my left foot on the ground and slide my right leg and foot over the top of the seat and slide off. Sometime if I'm on solid ground I'll get on and off like mounting a horse.

Check out this video. You could adjust this center stand to be a ride off style keeping both tires on the ground (this would be very easy to deploy) or adjust it to get the rear tire up in the air for tire changes. Ride off center stands were very popular on older BMWs. They worked very well. Reynolds was a company that produced them. This would solve the problem for a lot of you guys, who can't get it up. (pun intended!) I don't see them on the vendor's website yet. The video says available soon. If I keep my S10, this will be on my farkle list.

That's the coolest thing I've seen all day.
