Getting ABS fault codes to show

My ABS light is on (solid not flashing.)

I did not touch the wheels or the brakes in any way. I did have the hard start issue but that seems to be resolved. So, just to irritate me the bike does this seemingly on its own.

I checked all the fuses and found no issues. I did find the spring that returns the foot brake pedal missing. (How this happened I have no clue.) I acquired the appropriate spring and installed it.

The ABS light is still on. I was able to get the rear wheel ABS to kick in. I guess this means the ABS system is working properly?

Then I realized the fault codes need to be re-set. Okay fine... hopefully it was just the missing spring.

I rig up a wire to connect the top two wires in the under-seat connection.

I believe I followed the procedures as outlined in the manual to get the fault codes to show on the right side of the speedo cluster.

I got nothing. No fault codes. Just the normal dashboard layout.

I then went through the re-set procedure hoping that would address the issue. But no, I got the bike up to 15mph in the alley and the ABS light is still on.

Before I put the bike into the shop, I am hoping I am missing something. Hopefully something stupid. I am good at that.

Have you guys got any thoughts of what to look for? What I could be doing wrong?

Thanks!

Have you inspected the wheel speed sensors and leads closely? I had this problem when I picked my bike up new, turned out to be a shredded front sensor cable. How that happened on a brand new bike I don’t know.

Thank you for your suggestion.

I did check them out and they seemed fine. Hence the need to find a code to help pinpoint the issue.

Bumping this thread in hope of getting help:

I tried once again to get my ABS codes to show. (I have a 2015 ST.)

With assistance from another rider, we went through the procedure in the manual and could not get the codes to show.

If the codes do not appear, does that mean there are no codes to be seen?

Is there possibly another procedure I can follow?

My issue is that my ABS light is on. It is on solid most of the time but OCCASIONALLY it will flicker.

I took the bike to a dealer for the front brake recall. I paid them to do a diagnosis. They told me I needed to replace the front ABS sensor. (This is the world's worst Yamaha dealer and they absolutely suck. To make a long story short, I took the bike from them and ordered and installed the ABS sensor myself.)

After I installed the ABS sensor, the ABS light stayed on.

I have read where people mention cleaning the ABS sensor. Does this entail anything beyond removing the sensor from the wheel and wiping it with electronics cleaner? Is there anything inside the wheel sensor housing that needs to be cleaned?

I have an appointment in another shop some miles away... in six weeks. I could see it getting very expensive. I would really like to get this thing resolved sooner so I can start enjoying the bike as I would like, rather than having the ABS issue staring me in the face. (Yes, I have thought about electrical taping over the light. I am thinking of selling this bike and do not feel comfortable passing this problem along to the next rider.)

Thanks for your thoughts!

Riteris, I feel asame like you: like the bike is doing it on its own, just in order to irritate me. I have the same problem ( exactly that way ). Since a week ago my S10ZE 2014 performs that same show. How did you correct it ( if you did ) ?
