I see the two oil drain plugs on the left side of the bike. Is it OK to change the oil with the bike on the side stand. Just asking, because I'm not yet able to exert myself to place the bike on the centre stand just yet due to some abdominal surgery.
Thanks for the input in advance.

It's fine. Since I tend to park my bike on the center stand in the garage, I usually do oil changes on the center stand, but then pull the bike over at an angle to drain the rest of the oil. I'm not anal enough to let it sit for hours like some do. The center stand just makes it easier for me to remove my aftermarket skid plate.

I use the center stand for the simple reason of taking off my skid plate is easier. That and my drain bucket fits better with the added height when on side stand. I am also not anal about getting every last drop of old oil out.

I am more of a fan of changing the oil more frequently.

That’s just me and I’ve had good results with my method. I’m sticking to it.

Given that the drainplugs are on the side stand side, should be the best way to drain the oil.

I tend to do it that way.
Same as what I was thinking, drain plugs on the left side, so additional oil should drain. As another poster pointed out, you may have to add little more oil to replace the oil drained. So, it appears that changing both the oil and the rear gear oil will require the use of the centre stand because, to get an accurate oil reading the bike must be level and secondly, to fill the rear transmission hub with oil, the bike should be level. I cracked the hex screw on the hub's oil fill hole and with the bike on the side stand out immediately ran out of the hole.
Thanks to all for the inputs

I do all my oil changes on the side stand, including the final drive. If you can't put it on the center stand right now, and have the ability (without screwing anything up), do the maintenance and just hold it straight up, have your wife check the levels. As easy as the final drive is to fill, she could also do that, and put the screw back in enough that it will not leak back on the side stand until you tighten it properly.

I don't have a center stand and it works fine, as others wrote. I'll just add that I will rock the bike to the right and hold it for a bit then let it rest on the side stand to let the last oil from the cams drain down the cam chain passages. It's not much but there is a trickle of more dirty oil.
