If Yamaha Uk decide that a recall is necessary (or the DVLA), then all relevant owners will be notified by post. Personally I'm not giving this a second thought. If I get a letter I'll deal with it, and then get the letter stamped by the dealer as proof of work done.

Stopped at the local dealer today to see if I am affected.
DA000413 is the final numbers of my VIN.
Yes I am on the list. Yamaha Canada has 10 of the harness in stock. Mine should be in this Thursday, probably have it done next week.
From what I was able to see at the dealer, tank/airbox/throttle bodies have to come off.

If someone finds the instructions online post them up.

I got my recall letter in the mail today. Too bad it's all in french and I can't read what it says. I will take it up to the dealer and let them explain what the process is. That seemed pretty quick from the the time I read about this to when I got the notice.

Is this the main harness that goes to the ECU or a sub harness that is recalled ? Not too familiar with the wiring.

Saw a picture of the cable and it looks up to main harness.
Had a 36 dollar price tag
Can you post a link, picture or part number to the cable. On the headlight recall I bought the new cable for around $25 and put it on myself, much less hassle than taking it to a dealer and blowing a day with them. If this cable is cheap I would rather buy it than mess around with the dealer.

I don't think it is a quick plug and play like the headlight wiring.
I think the harness we are getting is part of the main harness but not all of it.

When I was in last week the service guy brought up the instructions and it showed some rewiring of one of the connectors. Pretty sure this short cable has pins on one end and it needs to be connected to the main harness by removing some of the pins of the bad cable and inserting the pins of the new cable.

I have been searching online for recall instructions but no luck so far. My bike was dropped off today and I will attempt to get a printed copy tomorrow or the next day when I get my bike back.

Service guy also mentioned today Yamaha has set 2 hours for the work to be done. He asked how soon I needed the bike back because after looking at the instructions he doubted it could be done in that amount of time. He mentioned again there was repining/rewiring of at least one connector.

Got mine today too. I'm also curious about how exactly they plan to 'bypass the defective wire lead connection'. Mine is a 2013 that I bought new in 2016 as a leftover. Has 20K miles on now.

Maybe a bad batch of wire harness. I don't think a design change would happen without a known cause. Some manufacturer for wire harness messed up. But good to know what caused the gremlins. Now you can fuel up after midnight.
The Tech guy from California Yamaha told me when they changed my harness it's a completely new design, most likely from Ge2.
I'm taking her in anyway as my number is up.
