I am making this post in case anyone is searching for an answer. I went from a Gen 1 to a Gen 2. I saw another post regarding thing somewhere.... but yes the Givi airflow windshield has holes drilled for both Gen 1 and Gen 2. Having said that..... I got mine used and can't be for certain the previous owner didn't drill the holes, but the holes appear to be done at the factory.

The madstad bracket from the Gen 1 does indeed fit the Gen 2. You will have to use a Gen 1 windshield. But..... I'm sure if one has windshields from either generation, holes can be drilled. Anyone drill the holes? any advice?

Right now I have the Madstad from the Gen 1 on my Gen 2 with the Vstream. I'm going to try the Givi airflow next. I appreciate Yamaha putting the sort of adjustable bracket on the Gen 2, but it's doesn't seem sturdy and using the adjustment is not that easy or smooth. It only adjusts up and down, whereas the Madstad can be tilted.

Found an issue with mounting a Gen 1 Madstad on Gen 2 bike. The crossbar blocks one's view of the turn signal indicators on top of the instrument panel. Completely blocks them out. Even at night you can't even see a light blinking.

Thanks for the great information I have a gen 1 and I’m wondering if I can buy a madstad gen 2 bracket and put it on the gen one bike, and use a 2 windshield
anyone?

Longdog, that’s great information. So if I’m understanding you correctly I can do the same backwards by installing a Gen 2 aftermarket bracket on my Gen 1 bike and purchase a Gen 2 windshield to mount on the Gen 2 bracket, so the holes match.
if this is the case you have solved my big conundrum on air management on my Gen 1 bike.
