There is no dedicated fuse for the horn according to the owners manual or service manual.

To trouble shoot you need to check Main, ABS ECU, ignition, signaling system and taillight fuses

Specified fuses:
Main fuse: 50.0 A
Headlight fuse: 20.0 A
Brake light fuse: 1.0 A
Parking lighting fuse: 7.5 A
Signaling system fuse: 7.5 A
Ignition fuse: 20.0 A
Radiator fan motor fuse: 20.0 A
Backup fuse: 7.5 A
Electronic throttle valve fuse: 7.5 A
Fuel injection system fuse: 20.0 A
ABS solenoid fuse: 20.0 A
ABS control unit fuse: 7.5 A
ABS motor fuse: 30.0 A
Suspension fuse: 15.0 A
Cruise control fuse: 1.0 A
Auxiliary DC jack fuse: 3.0 A
O/P (option) fuse: 20.0 A

If you're wondering about running a heavier horn, if you swap a single in, no issue. If you wire double horns that draw less than 10 amps, still fine. If you wire in heavy duty twins or an electric air horn, it would be a good idea to use a relay and wire strait to a fused power source off the battery. Just using the original horn wire as the trigger for the relay.

Thanks Eric, you’re spot on and have answered perfectly.

I have a single 9 amp upgrade hooter as a direct fit replacement and wasn’t sure how it’d affect the electrics, being as the standard unit was a 3 amp. I’ll now leave the new one fitted and forget :)

Electric stuff just doesn’t compute in my brain.

I was able to find an online wiring diagram for a 2012 model (mine is a 2013) and the horn is in the signaling system circuit. (15 amp)
On this year there are a few things including the optional grip heaters which might explain the list above that shows 7.5 amp for the same circuit. I assume this list is for 2nd gen?

I wouldn't advise running a horn that's 9 amps on a circuit you know is only 7.5 amps. First time you really lay on the horn and she blows. Hopefully you only lose signal lights and nothing more serious.

Look around there is a 2nd gen wiring diagram out there somewhere.

Keep in mind the horn is not something used continuously. A brief spike in voltage for that level is unlikely to be an issue, and hasn't been for many others so far. The Gen II FSM shows the stock horn to be 3amp, and on a 7.5 amp circuit, but like the Gen I, is really on a 15 amp shared circuit with the signally system.

Speaking of hooters,
I only have one :confused: after I laid into it over a cell phone driving a cage. :mad:
Anyway it quit after that, one hoot (blaster) stock wiring and I figured I blew the fuse. Signals still work so I just tested the horn, unplugged with jumpers to another battery, beeps but weak. Plugged her back up and she works fine.

Must of had a bit of crud on the nipple??

Stock horn or hooter adequate, just like the OEM headlights, barely adequate, come on Yamaha you can do better.
The Africa Twin has LEDs....

I felt that is was a bit weak, as in not loud enough.

The new one was much improved, much louder and with a deeper sound. Unfortunately it packed up after about 2 months and barely used. The old one is back in while I decided what to do next.

Not the greatest of upgrades :D

If the Fiamm is a "horn" style, it needs to be mounted with the horn pointed down. Otherwise water gets into the horn and kills it. I found out the hard way. I moved the horn out from under the wheel well and it works well.

Gunner, I suspected that was the issue. I’d ridden through some bad weather a few times in Scotland, with the opening just off forward and the sound became more of a squeak, so changed the angle of the opening, however I guess the damage was done.

Another heavy downpour in France finished it off.
