I maybe the only guy who has had problems filling the fuel tank and have fuel belch out on to the tank. The small holes down in the filler neck is what causes the problem I removed it with tin snips. Not pretty no one sees it but it solved the problem. FYI ride safe

Yep- I poke holes in the side of that neck. Love that mod.

If someone doesn’t understand why it’s originally there or the purpose, and the “rules”, I suggest you don’t touch anything. There are a few “rules” you need to fallow when messing with this.

So I did also removed then fuel sprayer! I hated this dumb thing in my tank. Plus I gained some fuel capacity! View attachment 82022View attachment 82023
Is it a separate part from the tank? It doesn't appear separate on the parts list. Is that a permanent removal or could you put it back in if you sell the bike (how did you remove it?). I've thought about the hole punch venting, but haven't got the hammer out yet...

Fastest easiest fix is to poke a hole or two closer to the top with a sharp punch and hammer. It'll also give you a bit more fuel capacity. Downside to any of these is that gasoline expands with heat. Put in cold gas, ride home, and park the bike, you might find some on the ground from the vent.

If the vent is plugged pressure this mod could possibly damage the tank or blow fuel out if the cap is opened. But a plugged vent usually be known before that due to creating a vacuum as fuel is used, starving the engine.

It's a permanent mod! Unless you can weld! In California the fuel pumps have the evap hose over the fuller tube! So that part in the tank sprays fuel everywhere! Yes you must use your head! Don't top off the tank and then park it in the sun! I only full it when I am on a ride and don't plan on sitting! It's been that way for over 20k miles! It great to have the little extra gas on a long trip!

Yep, parking it right after a to-the-top topoff on a hot day will also surge fuel into your canister and it will run like crap... if it starts at all. Did it three times in the last ten years, finally learned. Aerostitch has a tool that will lock back the fuel nozzle bootie, makes fueling a non issue.
