Looks like Yamaha is coming out with a recall to replace the front brake switch, should hopefully address the cruise control issue some have experienced.

Mine has already been replaced under warranty, but I expect this is a new design and will be replaced again with this recall.
This should cure the cruise control issues from now on.

There is also a recall for 2016-20 FJR1300. Faulty second gear and Yamaha is giving them a new transmission, that likely means pulling the engine and splitting the cases!

So much for that 6-speed. Isn't second gear the one that gets beat up drag racing?

There is an updated part number 2BS-83980-01-00.
Anyone know if there is normally a different recall sent out for USA?

The brake switch recall number is 2020-572, affects 4524 vehicles in Canada. It is not yet listed on the NHTSA site nor is it on Yamaha Canada site. Appears to be first issued in Europe, then UK, then Canada.

I got a phone call yesterday from my local dealer to tell me that Yamaha UK had issued the recall, not sure if it's because the brake light sticks on or the cruise issue, either way I'm happy again as they turned down a warranty claim 1 day out of warranty earlier this year.

I hope I’m getting my money back if it’s true. I replaced it and paid for it myself, just like many others. I think the part was 150-ish euro’s.

I just checked the Gov web site and it says no recalls for my 2017. Is that right?

I'd contact your local dealer Matt, they should confirm the recall for you. If they don't know anything about it ask them to check Yamaha UK but I presume all dealers would have received the communication via email.
After receving an email last Wednesday Wigan Yam called me on Friday to let me know because I've had plenty of ongoing discussion with them recently about Yamaha UK refusing a warranty claim which was 1 day out and they were very clear about what I thought!

Just checked, and my ‘16 has also got a recall for the switch. I did the repair myself in the spring, when there wasn’t a recall. Bought the part at the dealership so Tuesday I’ll be asking them for a refund. Thanks for the heads-up guys!

You 'should' get a refund, but I expect the dealer is still going to need your bike to do the recall. The switch you installed was likely made in 2019 or earlier, and 2019 and 2020 bikes are included in the recall so you have a potentially defective switch.

I couldn’t get a refund because they don’t actually buy the part from Yamaha. It’s sent to them the moment they click the “claim” button in the system. They automatically get paid as well. Only 12minutes worth of time they get I was told by the workshop manager, that translate’s to only €15,20! We agreed they send me the part for free and I have a spare if this one might fail in the future. I’m fine with that, it’s only a small fix.

Here in Brazil, Yamaha does not send a letter to anyone. If you want, look for a recall on the internet. I called a store and they told me that they will only start answering the recall after 1/15/2021. They are waiting for parts from the factory ...

I got my recall letter and have made an appt. with local dealer. 17'. Had to order part of course. My cc just started acting up also. I hope the 2 are related as I'm getting ready for a 2 week trip west.
