Anyone know for sure if the front brake reservoir cap's screws are JIS, if so what size?
I can not tell and the service manual makes no mention.

I can say for certain that it is JIS, but I have no idea what size it is.
I have one JIS screwdriver in my tool-box, and it fits most of the screws on my FJ1200 and my S10.

Yes, JIS, but most newer philips screwdrivers fit "pretty good". Best off to use the correct tool, and it is a #2 size. Buy a set of JIS bits from Vessel or use regular Vessel screwdrivers is always a good bet. The JIS standard is kind of obsolete and not mentioned much anymore it seems. Another good bet is use a torque screwdriver to tighten to 13 in/lb. I like tools and the torque srewdriver is a great tool to have that most don't deem necessary.

Do yourself a favor and buy a good set of JIS screwdrivers. Had this set from Vessel for several years and they're my favorites in the tool box. Expensive, but worth it!

Just bought a single Vessel Megadora 900 +2x100 JIS screwdriver to get me started.
That Vessel set you posted a link to is mighty nice.

Anyone that owns Japanese bikes should have a #2 JIS screwdriver. Sure, Phillips works most of the time, but JIS fits perfect and is really an improvement for any tight fasteners. I bought one years ago when I was working on Japanese cars as a tech.

Best to invest in a couple of JIS screwdrivers, they do fit better than Philips. The ones I have can be used as impact drivers for obstinate JIS screws, though thankfully I have yet to need that facility.

The screwdriver that comes in the stock toolkit is JIS. It will do until my Vessel set arrives.
Here is an informative (and short) article about JIS vs Phillips:
I've read in several places that the Phillips head was designed to 'cam out' at a certain level of torque, hence all the stripped JIS (and Phillips) screw heads.

BadNews hit it on the head , just use your factory kit.

Be careful with the clutch and brake reservoir screws.... they tend get stuck due to galvanic corrosion and mix of brake fluid vapour.
Clean the screw threads and put a tiny bit of anti-sieze on before reassembling.
