Share the free site locations you folks have seen or stayed at.
It's time to reveal!! ::024::

I know some can look like a mud pit or a serial killers dumping ground, just the nice ones you know of.

One beautiful site I camped at a few years ago.

South of Carbondale, CO on 133, McClure Campground Somerset, CO 81434.
No water but has vaulted toilets, tables and fire rings in the middle of an Aspen forest.

The only free camping i've ever encountered was in Terlingua TX at Gareth Park. I was there for the Uncle's Around The Bend Desert Challenge.

That Free camping map is a good find.

Here is a free camp we have used twice now on the way to or from Alaska.
Yellow Grass, Saskatchewan city park.

I just might take you up on the offer Steve, I'm heading west in about 4-5 weeks to meet up with a few of the PNW guys to ride the WABDR. Don't know if I will go through Canada ( boring) or head through the USA and head for Colorado.

This is just what I needed 3 weeks out from my trip! Perfect! and Limey why would you not want to pay to camp in Ontario Parks, especially Darlington, where you can hear the Majestic calls of three rail lines worth of freight and passenger trains, the soothing incessant hum of North America's busiest highway AND now inhale god knows what from the stack of the nearby incinerator!

To funny. That rail line is one street over form my place it's taken me four years to get used to it. To bad we weren't leaving at the same time, I'm heading west in about four weeks.

Limey not sure what route you are taking, but if you are cutting around the bottom of Lake Michigan and taking I80 to the mountains, the land of fine riding, Steve is a couple hours south. Now if you are on I80 and heading west, I am at the cross of I35 so give me a shout. I can offer a private room with bath within 10' of the bed with an attack cat for protection! No fires allowed since it will be summer and inside!

Actually if I am around and not trying to keep up with EEMSRENO, and you give me some warning I can usually offer a room, or a yard for camping with access to a bathroom, shower, and family room. Glasses, ice, water and kitchen provided. (If you ride an S10 and I like you, something to go with the ice may be provided!)

I am near (5-10 miles) the intersection of I35 and I80 for planning purposes.

Thanks for the offer BigBob, I just checked and its 1400 km from my place and would work out great as I usualy try for 1000km a day and plan on taking it easy this time around. I'm planing on about 700km per day, So I will let you know when I get closer to my leaving date.

Thanks Paul.

Stop trying to steel my friends away. :D

This is a PM I just sent Limey to entice him to ride a little out of the way.

We would love to have you stop in if you need a free camp.
We sure aren't in the middle of any good riding though, we are probable more of a place to stop on your way to good riding.
We do grow good corn on the cob here and green beans in a pot with new carrots and new potatoes, good eating!

Spent the night at McClure campground two weeks ago on my 1100 mile loop near McCluer pass 32 miles south of Carbondale CO.
Was quite isolated and free.
But due to the heavy rains the vegetation was a bit thick around the table as you can see and a couple of the ten or so sites had some mud.
Nice place with vaulted toilets.
It was thick vegetation around and a few Bear warnings posted at the entrance, I didn't see any droppings but as I was like one of four campers I grabbed a sandwich in Carbondale so as to not have any food sent around.
