I was going to suggest Conflubmw's, but I see that you saw it. Do a fly-n-ride. NorCal Guy just did his. Tulsa wouldn't be that bad to travel from. Right time of the year for it.

Stumbled across this yesterday... not mine, no additional knowledge...

I think if you are looking for a specific motorcycle (especially a lower production volume model), you can't be too adverse to traveling. Maybe that doesn't apply to the populated northeast. I can't recall buying a bike in-state.

Good day Fizzer , I might have something special for you or your friend if you looking for a 2nd gen ST . How adventurous are you ? So I was building this bike for trips to South/Central America and possibly Morocco , but it's too many projects , too many hobbies , not enough time and so I think she ha to go .
2017 ES model with 22K miles on it . I'm 6'3" , so its been set up for me . You won't find a comfier ST if you a tall guy .
Here are the mods : ( ergonomics )
Terrys custom rider and passenger heated seats ( electrical part is not plugged in , but everything you need is there , I jus didn't get to it ) . Seat raises you about an inch and moves you and the passenger back about 1-1 1/2" .
Helibar risers and ProTaper Adventure high handlebars . Longer brake and clutch lines installed .
Knight design lowered rider footpegs and adjustable passenger footpegs .
Modified rear brake pedal with the much bigger footprint for your foot .
Fully adjustable height and length vise BMW GS aftermarket folding gear shifter .
Rear shock spring has been upgraded to Race Tech .
It comes with two set of front wheels stock and 21" ( Made by Woody's wheels )
Madstad windshield bracket with stabilizers and a GPS/Phone accessory bar .
I have a dash infill panel that I havent installed yet .
Enlarged kick stand pad .
National cycle Touring or Sport windshield .
SW Motech pannier rack and Trax ADV panniers and trunk .
ALTRider upper and lower crash bars
ACD skid plate
Fiberglass , carbon fiber finish front fork guards from Italy ( like on a Worldcrosser )
Seal savers on the forks
Fiberglass carbon fiber finish hand guard extensions from Italy as well
Tech Spec tank protectors , sides and top
If the buyer is paying full price Givi specific tank bag would go with the bike as well .
Performance mods ( best part )
Arrow headers
Akrapovic titanium exhaust can
Open Mod insulated air box
Uni foam filters
Silicone coolant hoses
Barnett clutch compression plate and heaviest springs ( stock ones and softer Barnett springs from the kit come with it )
ECU re-flash by 2wheeldyno works from Seattle Washington specifically for all the performance mods I have done .
Let me say something here ... the bike is a screamer . It might loose to Ducati Multistrada and KTM Super Adventure , but it will take on the BMW GS all day without sacrificing an ounce of reliability . At the same time it's super smooth and so easy to ride you will think you on a cruiser , but when you snap that throttle ... oh boy !!!
Bike has been always babied since it was built for the long journey in mind and reliability has always been a number one priority in this build .
Asking $12K . My loss is your gain ...
All the work done by a paranoid perfectionist with mechanical engineering degree that works as an industrial maintenance foreman ... me . Absolutely no money , time or effort was spared in this build . Take of to RTW adventure straight from my garage ...

Thank you for the link/info. I did see it earlier and I do like the bike. Tulsa is about 1500+ miles from me which is a minimum 3 day ride back to my place. Current work conditions do not give me the luxury.

I do have a couple rides currently which satisfy my riding needs, but the itch is always there for a newer one. The sooner I find it the better, but I am ok to wait a bit longer for the right one. There were a ton here and in the 'other' forum a few months ago. All of the good ones seem to be far away now.

Yeah it is tough to find something good nearby, but had the luck before with my previous rides.
This one is 600+ miles... may be doable. This would be the max that I am willing to travel (as I can cover it in a weekend). Will try to reach out to this guy...Thanks.

Good day lucastream, Looks like a nice set of mods you have there. It is a bit over my budget and it is of course far away for me to do a fly & ride for the reasons stated above (1000~miles).

I am a Yamaha fanboy and no need to convince me on that end...:D

And I am 5,8 but have been riding for a few decades now... I hope I do not have to reverse the setup you did for the taller rider..

I do a fair amount of research before I decide on a bike. I just need to 'like' SuperTen when I ride it...I am hoping I would...

Post some pictures here or a link to your sale ad, maybe I might be motivated or it may help someone who is interested.

Just as an FYI - All ES bikes are 2nd Gen.

I do wonder why you are limiting yourself to only riding for half a day during a ride and fly though? I have on several occasions done fly and ride bike purchases that were 1k miles away and ridden them home in a day. This time of year, leave at 4 am and you'll be home by 10 pm. Only a little darkness on each end.

Yup.. I understand that ES is 2nd gen only. My point was I was interested mainly in the ES only and not the non-ES. I might consider a non-ES depending on various factors.

I am just being realistic about the distance I can cover in a day. I haven't done more than 750 miles even in a cage... :D Riding for 1000 miles in one day is something I dream of but not making any plans based on it. I have been riding for a long time, but not long distance ones. Hoping to do it on the ST:cool:

Which is?
I am willing to pay a fair price based on the condition, farkles, mileage, distance etc. I would like to remain below 10K again depending on multiple factors. The lower the better. I am not in a super hurry as I have a couple rides now to satisfy my riding lust:p. I see that the prices overall are a bit higher because of the peak riding season.

I am seeing brand new leftover ESs for 13K.

I am still debating on whether I should do it. I could, but then I have a farkling disease which will add to my total.

I am basing my prices on the past sales here and on the 'other' forum. One of the examples I like, is posted in my OP. I am hoping someone will have a good one at a fair price soon.

And that's fine, you have to be comfortable with what you're doing. 600 miles is a lazy, relaxing 12 hour day with a long lunch and several photo stops. The trick to long distance is simply staying on the bike and staying hydrated. You have plenty of time to stop when you need to, have a sit down lunch, just don't dwell there. Do what you need to do, then get back on the bike and ride. 1000 miles in 18 hours is an average speed of 55.5 mph. Even losing an hour for lunch and you're below typical interstate speeds at 58.8 mph. Just food for thought.

Congrats on the new bike! Nice one and color! I know Sierra Loves that color......
If anyone has a limitation on a fly-n-ride...let me know. I will fly to a bike and ride it to wherever... Won't even charge. I can fly to the bike you buy. Ride it to you. I will ride it in the way you want me to. Give regular reports and pictures along the way...

Haha... Thanks for the offer, I will keep that in mind. Now that I have tasted it, I will probably do it again.

I can see why you think she's heavy considering your previous rides.

If you ride mostly smooth roads, it is hard to feel a difference in the suspension. I recommend using 1-helmet= 200lbs, and the luggage= 50lns. As a starting point. After that, find some rough roads, and start making changes. There will be a difference.

I don't think anybody thought to ask, or tell you to check and see if the brake switch recall was done. The bad switch is likely the cause of the CC problems. Contact your favorite dealer, and they can do the recall.
