I could be wrong, but I thought the attachment for the OEM top-case was "Underneath" the Metal OEM top-rack, and you just remove the top piece?
Unless your bike came with an aftermarket rack on there, and all the OEM stuff was already removed?

That's absolutely correct. I wonder if he has it and doesn't know it. I was the second option you mentioned; my bike's original owner had installed an Altrider rack and the mount I have is one I had to buy to mount an oem top box. Then I changed to a Givi box and put it back on the Altrider.

You are correct. Your stock rack has been relocated to the low position by removing the support. You will need that same support to mount the Yamaha top box.

Yep, never seen that before. That rack wouldn't hold anything, it's just an aluminum flap.

Well, look what I found in our storage area today! I remembered that my friend's Super Tenere came with with Touratech boxes and a bunch of removed parts...
