I see some of you have material covers on your shocks but cannot see the make of them. Can anyone recommend which ones to go for. Thanks, i won,t be doing off-road stuff on mine...
That's what I have, put them on as soon as I got the bike as my previous bike, my first with USD forks, roared through seals. Fitted them in about 5 minutes and wipe down the exposed chrome part right round every time I get home. Thanks folks, I have never even seen any before
The Kreiga ones also have good reviews...
Kreiga has excellent customer service. I went thru three sets of these when the Super Ten was first out. They kept cracking from a combination of UV damage and being stretched close to the max to fit our USD forks. Kreiga replaced them all for free. I changed to Shock Sox after that and never had an issue in the next 100k miles or more. To Kreiga's credit, this was before they came out with a version specifically for USD forks that is larger. The recommended putting sunscreen on my fork covers to help with the UV damage, and that did seem to help some, but I honestly don't think I renewed it as often as might have been beneficial. Thanks folks, I have never even seen any before

Both Kreiga and Shock Sox have velcro for easy removal for cleaning and I always gave them a spray of lube on the inside after a good wash and dry before re-installing them. Never had a fork seal leak in 150k+ miles.
Different stuff. WD-40, silicone spray, what ever was handy. just something to repel water and help with a little lubricity on the forks. What spray lube are you using?
So true! I washed mine after long off pavement rides and about once a month when I was just doing street touring rides and putting the miles on. YMMV, but it wouldn't be a bad thing to consider this part of your oil change routine. When I lived in UT I would always get a lot of crap out of them when I washed them. A good time to scrub the bugs off your fork legs if you're like me and not a diligent bike washer. When using these please remember to wash them, especially if riding in dusty/muddy/dirty environments. It always amazes me how much grime comes out when washing in the sink. Don’t let them become emery wrap on your fork tubes.
Good point I was also torn on the 13" vs 6" soxI constantly battled fork weeping until I installed shock Sox. Haven’t had a leak in years. I ran them on my cr500 awhile. I’ve seen them packed with sand after muddy rides. As stated above. Don’t forget to clean them often. The grit was starting to scratch my forks. I run the long ones on my S10
i have the kreiga ones in the UK fella work fineThanks folks, I have never even seen any before
