Eric, Can you post a picture of the shifter modification from your bike?
It's been too long. I may have taken pics, but was just copying other work posted to the forum already. Searching for 'Woodcraft' came up with what you want to see:
[smg id=1230 type=preview align=center caption="IMG 0403[1]"] Love my bike but thought the OEM shift lever looked like a cobbled POS. as a dirt biker, I know what rocks, roots and tip overs can do to a shift lever.. really didn't understand why Yamaha would not have made a folding shift...

And read thru this thread too:
Reviving this as I had my shift lever bend in a fall yesterday… This seems like a very good and affordable option. Curious how this mod is holding up after some time has passed now? I went to the dealer who had the shift lever… 106 bucks new I was thinking like 50 bucks.. Comparing my bent...

In a nut shell, you remove the rubber, cut off the existing peg flush, drill the hole for the Woodcraft tip bolt, then countersink it so it fits nicely, assemble with locktite flavor of your choice and you're done. I used red, since I didn't think I'd be pulling this off unless it was destroyed. It's easier with a drill press, but can be done with a vise and standard drill too. IIRC, it only took me about 20 minutes to do once I had the shift lever off the bike, if that. Totally worth it.
There is also a ready made one for the XT1200Z/ZE sold in Germany by
Off-The-Road for 100 Euros or so.
Pro Tip - Make sure you countersink the correct side...
