Recently was riding along, minding my own business at about 55 mph and I see a dark spot growing larger by the moment in front of me, then feel it hit me in the chest. Jacket was open at the collar, but I thought it hit me in the jacket, not the T shirt. Maybe it did, but it ended up going down the jacket. At first, nothing and I keep riding along... A few miles later I start feeling something crawling on me inside my jacket. Something fairly size-able... Naturally, I do the right thing and smack it thru my jacket, hard. Naturally, it stings me and I pull over in haste, unzipping and getting my jacket open, then my shirt up to find a female Great Black Wasp about 1.5 inches long. I manage to get it off me and give it the requisite stomp on the ground. The pain is fairly high on the scale, but manageable. I take a couple of advil that I keep on the bike and zip back up and off we go. By the time we got home I had a nice red welt, but it mostly was no longer painful after a couple of hours.

On a road trip around Bear Lake Utah one day I stopped for gas, I didn't take my helmet off or anything just put the visor up, filled up and took off. While riding through the small town I left my visor up until the main street turned into the highway, at which point I snap my visor back down. and accelerate out of town. A few seconds later I see movement on the edge of my peripheral vision, somehow a yellow jacket was inside my helmet and crawling up the inside of the visor! Not two inches from eyes is this angry yellow jacket twitchingI what do I do? I didn't want it to jump on my face, I'm on a two lane highway in traffic, finally I just closed my eyes, lifted my head back and flipped the visor up. Oh I was so lucky it just blew off the visor and up over the helmet. Nearly died of a heart attack.

crossing North Dakota one time with a couple buddies. One was on a brand new electra glide the other was on a new to him street glide. We hit thousands of grass hoppers. I mean thousands! Huge and nasty. they hit like hail. We slowed down and the good thing was it seemed they were so big as we went through them they could not get very high off the ground. Still it was high enough to get up the my helmet. Most were lower though. All three bikes were covered with baking grass hoppers. the front of all the bikes looked like a grasshopper parts bin junk yard. it took hours to get them cleaned off. They looked just about like the picture i found here. Well before they hit us and the bikes.
