Got what I think is a good deal on a leftover new 2017 and I couldn't be happier. Worked the Yamaha heated grips into the deal, as well. Had never ridden a Tenere before, and I have to say that all of the Moto Magazine types who say it isn't powerful enough are nuts...at least to this average rider. I think it handles well, doesn't feel heavy (even in slow speed maneuvers), has more than sufficient power, is super smooth and stable, etc. Already have a Sargent seat and Madstad windshield on order, which ought to make it about perfect for me. Eventually I'll get crash bars and a skid plate, but it'll be a 98% road bike for me.

Anyway, this site helped a lot in my research, and I appreciate it! IMG_6943.JPGIMG_6940.JPG

Congrats and welcome.

Is that Power Motorsports in Sublimity? I used to have my FJR serviced there on occasion. Take a moment to fill out your profile and tweak your notifications to your taste. Helps with context when you ask or answer questions on the forum if people have some idea where you are in the world, even if just the state, province, (or country for the EU folks).

Enjoy making it your own.

Congratulations !!! Yup Tenere has way more power than I need, I’d Prefer 10 less horse power and more MPG ! But extra horse power is a big seller to most folks. Be sure to let us know how the Sargent seat works out for you.

Nope, you're right, they're nuts. Congratulations. Is that a beautiful blue or what?!

Congrats! Are you tall? Just asking because the Sargent will force you to sit further back than the OEM seat.

I actually prefer the "cobalt blue" to the brighter Yamaha blue on the '18...one more reason to go for the "leftover"!

I had wanted the 60th Anniversary, until I saw the Cobalt. That and the fact that the yellow/black did NOT come in ES, in the U.S. And when you get the Cobalt in the sunshine....WOW!

re:underpowered

I don't think its underpowered, but I do think it could surely use more power in the higher speed ranges. I commute on a toll road with an 85mph limit and the "flow of traffic" is sometimes close to 100mph and in that range my S10 is pretty soft. I am going to do a slip on and a reflash and see if that gets me what I want.
In the lower mid to upper mid ranges, the bike pulls STRONG, I don't see how anyone could call it underpowered anywhere but above 80. But really, a bike like this, it's not supposed to be a rocket ship above 80 lol. Aren't you supposed to stay under 90 with bags or something?

Swap out the stock headers for Arrow headers and the top end really wakes up.
