I agree, I don't see them doing a shaft T7. Just saying, if they did, it would be the only one and it would sell. 600km... That's really cute. ;) So three times a day for some of my riding. What I used to do on the FZ-1 was spray the chain at lunch, then at the end of the day when it's still warm. I let it go a little longer than you do. Every 500-600 miles was fine for me.
for a really good laugh, our enduro days vary from 35-80km (80k is a big day!) but it's all relative. When I first started off road about 4 yrs ago, it was pure pain and agony. Toughest learning curve I've experienced. But stupidly rewarding. Now in days I'm all about quality not quantity

Yep, off pavement is a whole different world in many ways. Certainly takes more out of you for the given distance! I've backed off on the endurance LD riding and rallies. Still have some fun on some shorter ones now and then and can still crank out a 1k day when needed. More flower sniffing now.

Eric - Have you read the book "Motorcycling Stories" by Piet Boonstra? This guy rode from New York to Alaska in 1977 and again in 1981 on a 1977 GS750 and routinely strung together 700+ mile days through bad roads, bad weather, and all kinds of other adversity (much of it self-inflicted due to poor planning and poor decision-making). Then he did a third Alaska run in 1983 on a 1982 Goldwing. Some of what he put himself through is mind-boggling. I'm about 1/3 through the book. He's not a great writer and the book format is a daily diary of his adventures. But the stories are compelling just because of what he put himself through. And he's very honest about the mistakes he made.

I have a weird attraction to tales of torture and endurance like this and have an even weirder urge to do it. But I don't think I could mentally handle weeks of back-to-back 14+ hour days of riding. I have immense respect for you Iron Butt guys who can do that.

I've heard of the book and the man, but haven't read the book. There was another guy that did his Alaska ride on a moped in the '70's that was pretty epic. I don't think he wrote a book. It just shows up now and then as a few pics and some stories.
