Yorkie (originally from Yorkshire, UK) here. Saw an S10 online on Saturday, went to view it Sunday, phoned back to buy it Monday (this morning)! Should be delivered in a few days.

It wasn't a difficult decision to make as it's a very good bike with pretty much every extra I am ever likely to want/need. Looking forward to reinvigorating my enjoyment of m'bikes again. I currently have a Honda ST1300 Pan European sat in the garage, in fact it's been sat there for well over a year. I found that I was only enjoying biking if I was 'risking my licence' (and/or life!). 'Sensible' biking has lost its appeal to me and I had considered calling it a day ... until I thought about an adventure bike!

I did a bit of enduro about 15+ years ago and the last adventure bike I had was a Suzuki DR-BIG 800. My love-spuds still remember those big single-cylinder vibrations well!! o_O

Looking forward to gleaning info off you more S10 experienced folks, the first bit of research being what tyres to fit as that's about the only thing that needs done to it anytime soon.

EDIT: I envisage my on-road/off-road ratio will be around 80/20. Off-road = gravel tracks, not mud-pluggin’

Glad to be here!

Welcome Yorkie, Metzeler Tourance Next work well on these, but aren’t much good if you’re planning to do the off tarmac stuff. I’ve just had a set fitted and am off to Scotland on Friday.

Ey up Yorkie, enjoy the new bike. Tyre choice opinions will depend on where you plan to ride but speaking as a soft Lancashire lad who never goes out int' wet, the Michelin Road5 are doing well for me.

Orite butt? That’s a Welsh greeting!

Welcome to the Forum, there are a lot of roses to be picked on here but look out for the thorns too, and congratulations on your choice of bike.

Yorkie Since you plan on pretty much staying out of the mud both the Metzler Torrance or the Mitas Dakar should work very well for you. Welcome aboard !

Welcome from Texas; using Bridgestone's A41. They're 90/10 tires. Not to be confused with the A41x, which is a MUCH more aggressive off-road tire.

Welcome Yorkie; enjoy the new ride.

Tyres to fit your needs - probably the A41s, but I suggest you get some miles in first to make sure it's the bike for you.

No slouch the old S10, despite what the journos may say, so it's easy enough to bust the licence here too, especially with those 20 mph limits that seem to be springing up everywhere.
