expansion tank, by rear wheel question

Hi guys,

right might be a daft question to most but i,ll ask, the expansion tank has a min and max mark on it, when the bikes running and the water (coolant) is running around the cooling system, does the coolant in the expansion tank never run around the system

No circulation, coolant level will rise and fall with temperature changes.
