Hi all, does anyone have a guide or link to a video for removing the rear shock and servicing the swing arm? I’ve seen a few good post on this forum but the photo links no longer work.

Ha-Ha-Ha-Ha....... I recently did this job.... Looked at everything, and having to remove the whole rear of the bike... Swing arm, Etc... We didnt want to do this, we had to end up doing this...

With the electronics, holders, clips, screws, Etc,Etc..... There 'might' be a way not to have to strip that much off, but after looking at everything, this was the (only) best way for sure.......

No photos of the process and no video... Just start tearing it all off.......

I do have a step by step guide I created to remove the swingarm, if that helps. I don't have an ES model, so I can't help you on the shock removal.

Follow the service manual, except for the one last bolt were it says to disconnect the muffler to get it out of the way. You need to loosen the header clamps and remove the other exhaust bolts to lower it enough to remove that last bolt. When reinstalling, re-insert it from the right so the exhaust can stay in place in the future.

The trick on the ES is working the shock out of the tight confines. I seem to recall it takes a slight twist clockwise to work it out. Just keep moving it around and work it out. If you don't have a manual, you should pick one up.

LOL...I am not sure I have that much time.

The ES rear shock is not "hard" to get out... But it sure was a ton to remove off the bike to get the shock out. We were both laughing as we looked, and took off something else, then looked, and had to take more off............. and so on............... until we ended up with removing the whole rear end. The ES shock and swing arm geometry is different than the NON-ES. You basically have to remove all this not to tear up a lot of other parts.
