When I got my S10, (2017 european model) I found a remote gravel parking lot.
And there I did a whole lot of spinning rear wheel, both on TCS 1, TCS2 and TCS off.
You know, to get to know your bike....and the TCS did of course flicker all the time, when in TCS 1 and 2.
And light up all the time, when TCS off.
There was never any fault codes....

When accelerate all the the S10 is capable off, the TCS will flicker, when the front lift, still no error code...
When accelerate all the S10 is capable off with TCS off, the front will go up, untill you shift to second, and then go a bit up again...no error codes.

But, I could imagine a situation where the rear is spinning for a long time, without the front is turning at all, thiis might give a error code.
If I have done the programming, I would have done the same.
Just like Watty100 describe :)
I did an advanced off-road training course and had to disable the ABS.
On the centre stand, "ride" the bike to their gear/4,000rpm.
Engin light, ABS and TCS all lit up.

Basically a manual way to disable the ABS, a well documented procedure, but a PITA on a 4 day course and very one else have a button to disable the ABS.

Point is, they had us push the bikes like you see on YouTube.
Everything in loose gravel and sand, power slides, emergency braking, throttle control with brakes, obstacles and my STen did not hiccup once.

Cycle the ingnition and everything back to normal.
My STen is a very first Generation. 2010 model.

In fact, I love the STen with TCS and ABS in T mode off road.

My daily tar commenting is A mode, all the nanny setting fully engaged.

I bought a cable off ebay and will report back my results in USA. I have a good Snap On and a Launch scanner. I won't go back to a dealer for anything. That is why I ride Japanese, not BMW.
I got the cable. It does not work on 2017 USA model Super Tenere. Both my scanners know a vehical is hooked up but indicate the motorcycle does not communicate with any OBDII protocall.

Under seat or Right panel, four pin connector?

Yea, I checked the manual for wire colors on the 4 pin connector to be sure I was plugging into the correct connector. On the first scanner when I went into the generic OBDII, it scanned for various "protocols" and each one came up as failed. This was a Diagun IV, which is about a $600 unit and works real nice. The other scanner is a Snap On ethos edge which is a $2,000 setup, and it just scanned and said vehical matched no OBDII protocols. Possible I got a bad cable, but highly doubt, as this seller hand makes them and sells one here and there and checks them out on his own motorcycle before shipping out the cable. I was not surprised when it didn't work, would have been rather shocked if it did actually. Worth the $25 just to know no need to think of using a scanner, so just use the built in diagnostics.

Thanks, that’s very important info then you away on the long trip. Already ordered OBD2 adaptor and you can actually clear the codes from your IPhone I use this technique on my car.

I bought the scanner and lead suggested by the OP and it seems to work fine on my 18 ES model.......just hope I do not have to use it, but it will certainly go with me on any trips.

I’ve had my 17 on center stand and turned the back wheel in a couple of gears with motor and no engine codes. ?
Reread your post and realised my reply does not make sense.
When you do as you described, you won't see and error code.
The "check enige" and ABS indicators will be lit. That is it.

remember that the obd2 protocol is only for things common to the OBD, such as abs "sensors", O2 sensors, intake air sensor, engine tr / m, engine temp, Voltage, and some other that I do not remember now. But for access to the SCU, access to the ABS ECU, access to the throttle body sensors, access to the sensor depression air filter, access to the brake switch, clutch, gear .... and some other that I do not remember .. ... YOU SHOULD HAVE THE YAMAHA SOFTWARE, loaded in your scanner

..and OBD2 fault code readers.
I recently had the engine light come on for the second time in 2 weeks and figured that this seemed to happen too easily on these bikes, especially as a trip to the dealer seemed to be the only fix. A search of this site told me how to get it fixed but only by following links to other forums.

So I thought I'd put the fix in one place on here to hopefully assist anyone else searching for a solution.
The solution is simple, get a fault code reader. The one I bought was recommended on the Tracer/FJR forum so here it is:
https://www.auteltech.com/Code Readers&Code Scanners/358.jhtml Bought off ebay for under £30.

You also need an adapter to fit the Yamaha 4 pin OBD2 port, this one:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yamaha-MT09-MT10-XSR900-R1-R6-TRACER900-Diagnostic-Plug-UK-Seller/173869594999?hash=item287b6f7977:g:3O0AAOSw241YiIg6 Yes I know it doesn't specify the S10, trust me, it fits.

On opening the box when the Autel unit arrived, I found a CD, put the app on my PC, downloaded the latest software to the unit taking all of 5 minutes and went out to the garage.

The port sits next to the battery, plugged in the unit and within 2 minutes, fault codes read and cleared and best of all, engine warning light gone out. Result!

I'm sure other brands of code reader will work just as well. I also plugged it into the 3 cars here and it linked with all of them no problems.
(and just in case you're worried I'm killing my bike by ignoring faults, the warning light was triggered by the back-wheel-moving, front-wheel-stationary scenario, like I said, its too easy to trigger this problem on this bike, fortunately its easy to fix) ;)
Can you please make picture were is actual diagnostic plug on super t .

Under the seat is the ABS test port I believe. The OBD2 port plug is under the front fairing on the right side of the motorcycle near the battery.

I just had this happen to my new ZE, ran the bike in 1st gear on the centre stand and it spazzed out and threw up the un resettable engine warning light (no i wasnt trying to oil the chaino_O i was playing with the clutch lever)
After reading up and figuring out the S10 has a bajillion sensors that cause the fault light i thought id invest in an OBD2 scanner and an adapter cable. After trying cheap chinese knock offs from ebay, none of which actually worked, i got a genuine autel MS309 on amazon for £19.99 and an OBD/4pin sumitomi(?) adapter on ebay for £12. Fault cleared in 5 seconds and also told me what was "wrong", the front wheel speed sensor.
European bike BTW

Nice find. It is always a good thing to have. Saying that, your bike should have reset after riding it a couple of miles. What you did is a common method to disable the ABS until you shut the bike down, or some just do that after maintenance to get everything turning.

Apparently not newer models, mines a 2019ZE whatever suffix model number that is, i dont know what year it changed ive only just got the bike but newer ones dont have the diagnostics and reset through the instruments, once the light is on its on for good until you take it to your gleeful main dealer and pay £££ for 5mins work

Didn't know that. I have had the light come on several times when I did what you did, and all I need to do is jump on the bike and ride it around the block several times, and it will reset itself. It is seeing two different values from the speed sensors, and once they match again, it should reset itself. Otherwise, Yamaha is taking a page from the BMW book.....
