Hey guys, newbie here. I noticed on my new to me 2012 S10 when accelerating (lower rpm) in any gear my engine feels like it's vibrating and after a second or 2 it goes away, also goes away if i give it more throttle. Is this a characteristic of this bike? im coming from a FJR1300 which is as smooth as silk. Thanks in advance.

Nope, it’s perfectly normal. The ST’s are notorious for the roughness of the engine at idle and lower revs. It will take a short time for you to get used to it (both sound and feel). It smoothens out at higher revs.

Thanks, im not worried if it's normal but didn't know if it was :) since the bike was bought used I am not sure what is normal and what is not.

Hi Mountain Max!
I have the same year model.
From what I’ve read on this , it sound like your clutch basket. Yamaha redone the design of it after 2014-15...I have this around 3000-3300 rpm . So if you want you can replace the clutch basket with the newer design or like me endure it a little!!

I will replace mine next year. Just too annoying! Will have to buy the parts from the States because if bought from the dealer it cost about twice more!!

Yep, it’s very likely to be the clutch basket. Changed mine last year, big improvement.

I only needed the basket. Both the nut and gasket were reusable.

Pre change the vibration was a real issue on my bike, was really annoying me! A much nicer bike to ride post change :)
