After reading through, what I thought was twaddle, on a You Tube post about the side mounted radiator on an XT1200, I thought it would be a good idea to discuss it on this forum. IMHO the rad position is perfect, at a standstill all heat is blown away from the rider whereas my friend who owns a 1200 Tiger complains about the heat being blown on to him, is the GS any better?

I thought they put it on the side so they could place the engine further forward in the frame. Therefore allowing more luggage to be carried evenly. ???

This bike puts less heat on me in the hot days of summer than any I have owned in years. Oddly enough it is also the warmest bike I have ridden in the winter. The thing I like is the radiator doesn't get clogged up with mud. I was in Wyoming on my FJR 1300 and had to stop and use my drinking water to clean the mud out of the front mounted radiator. No problems with this bike!

Moto Guzzi in the winter for great leg warmers.
Hell's kitchen in the summer.

I also understand the rad went on the side for balance, which they did get perfect.
Plus it makes for a winter finger warmer.
