Anyone have any ideas. Series 1 Tenere and the dash has gone completely blank. Everything else works except nothing on the LCD screen and no tachometer. Have checked plug into the back of the speedo unit and checked all fuses with a circuit tester. Don't think ABS is working either. Other than that everything seems fine......

Doing the simple things, how old is your battery? This bike will do weird things on a marginal battery, or a loose ground wire/connection...etc

Just changed battery on mine to the 14s bike wouldn't start recently, wouldn't even click starter, off on, off on then error code 12 (I think) then started fine!
Went to dealer and mechanic said error code was crank position sensor and low voltage could do that, said my cruise control light was flashing, voltage again and sometimes I couldn't switch TC off until the engine had been running a while, mine is gen 2 but the battery in these bikes is marginal and if not working correctly can cause weird issues!

I would try battery first!

Loose or corroded electrical connections maybe? Perhaps fiddle with the electrical plug leading to the dash and see if it comes on intermittently...just a guess.

With that picture, I would be more inclined to say loose wire(s). Your ABS light, unless you rode it, should be on. The ABS light will only go out if you have ridden 20-30 feet(?) and no faults. There is a thread here to test the ABS pump, or if the bike runs, take it down the road and see if the ABS works. Might help with the diagnosis.

Does all the other lights light up and the tach does it full scale swing when you first turn the key and it goes through its self test?

has to be a loose connection (?).

i had an issue recently with the bike stuttering while riding. turned out the connect for the right swtich gear on the bar ( behind battery ) had worked loose - really really odd, considering it snaps shut and is a tight fix - the block connector.

take your time and check back chasing the loom.

Same has just happened to my bike, battery is good, she was perfect when I put her into the garage after a long spin then this morning, a blank dask and no movement on the tacho, the bike will start no problem.
I tried disconnecting the positive terminal from the battery and reconnecting but that made no difference.
Did you ever find out what the problem was?

OK I know this is apples and oranges but I have a Yamaha grizzly four wheeler that the dash quit on. It had a fuse labeled for the dash. It was good. Turns out there are two fuses for the dash on it. One takes care of the readout and the other operates the back light so you could see it. trouble is the other fuse was labeled as something else. May be some sort of strange thing like that on the Super Tenere's.

Thanks, I stripped the dash down last night, some of the screws looked corroded but inside was perfect, couldn't see anything that looked like water ingress.
When I plugged the connector back in I got a flash of the backlight and the tacho needle moved but then the unit died again, so I blew out the connector on the wire side using compressed air, plugged it back in and it seems to be working, trip has reset, so hopefully all is good.
