Re: Accessory Outlet on ST

Hello All,

Can somebody please tell me if the power outlet that comes with the bike can handle charging an I phone?

Many thanks for your input!

That and a GPS. And that's about it.

It has a very small fuse (what is it, 2 or 5 amp?) so only low power requirement stuff. You will guaranteedly blow the fuse with something like a tire inflator or high powered inverter.

I believe its rated at 2 amp. Best install a powerlet if you want to bump things up. And run it thru a fuseblock of some sort.

Re: Accessory Aux power

Another option, I use the PDM60 which total amps of 60 with 5 outlet wires and each is programmable to meet your needs up to the 60.

I run a 2.1 amp IPad charger on my 6 plus, it works great in the OEM plug.

The socket outlet terminals are 'far' apart, with + in the middle and - the outer shell. Unless the socket fills with water, it is unlikely to short with just rain. It is important to close the lid when not in use.

60 Amps? The battery won't handle that.

Re: Accessory Aux power

I don't require too many outlets for accessories. I have hard wired leads for my Gerbing gloves as they only 'draw' when plugged in

My GPS currently runs from the switched outlet on the bikes instrument panel and it is that which I want to remove and power in more permanently

What I have done is to research the Eastern Beaver site and also take the great advice/pictures that have been posted in this thread ~ I have ordered a 3CS switched unit from Easter Beaver which I think will meet my needs perfectly

So once again thanks for the excellent advice you have all given without which this electrical numpty would have been left struggling ::008:: :D

The outlet and fuse capacity has been asked and answered SO many times that a few threads have been merged into this sticky.

Power distribution blocks are a topic unto themselves and will be a separate sticky.

I ordered a 3CS system from Eastern Beaver and it arrived this week, Firstly I would say it looks like a superbly put together pice of equipment, and secondly the on-line instructions make installation sound very straightforward, so coupled with the great pictures on here (thanks again) and the instructions even I feel capable of fitting this to the bike

I reckon I'll pick up a switched feed from the rear lights unless someone has a better/easier suggestion

All depends on where physically you plan to mount the distribution panel.

Now installed behind the right side cover.

I would have preferred to fit it under the seat but the length of the leads were such that they wouldn't reach and I didn't want to butcher the 3CS by extending them...I'm pleased with the addition although it was a tight squeeze ;D

Re: Cigarette Adapter Fuse

1. Open the panel on the right side of the bike.
2. Look in the upper mid-center area amongst all the wiring. You'll see 2 rectangular boxes. These are the fuse boxes. IIRC, the cigarette fuse is in the right one and at the bottom.
3. Open fuse box (lid for each box shows the fuse layout) and look for a yellow 2 amp fuse.
4. Replace said fuse.
Update on the fuse position for the auxiliary outlet/cigarette adapter on the 2014/15 non ES model. Fuse position colour and rating differs.
1. Open the panel on the right side of the bike. - SAME
2. Look in the upper mid-center area amongst all the wiring. You'll see 2 rectangular boxes. These are the fuse boxes. IIRC, the cigarette fuse is in the right one. SAME - 3de from the bottom a purple 3 amp fuse.
3. Open fuse box (lid for each box shows the fuse layout) and look for a purple 3 amp fuse.
4. Replace said fuse. - SAME

Greetings all. I want to wire up a USB charger on the dash fill on my 15. I know about the two extra plugs, 3 and 4 prong, that are already wired into the bike and the plugs that are for sale that will fit them. What I was wondering is if someone/where sells the whole thing already put together, meaning the plug that plugs into the bike, the wiring and the USB plug portion? Unless I'm missing it is seems that I have to buy the plugs from one place and then the USB portion from another and then put it together myself. I don't mind doing it if I have to but if the completed product is out there somewhere, reasonably priced, it sure would be easier. If not where's the best place t buy the USB portion from? I found them on ebay but shipping is like 13-28 days???

I haven't seen a plug and play kit. For the USB charger/Voltage Meter plate, check Amazon as well. I picked up one there for my camper; it was reasonable and didn't take more than a few days to ship to me.
