is it possible to Swap the ECU ?
The idea is to have two ECUs, One of them flashed and the other one stock.
If It is possible, what about the odometer?
What about the model year?.

My understanding is the bikes with the security chipped master key can't swap ECUs.

It would be simpler to get a Dynojet Power Vision 3, which allows you to flash your ecu via the OBD2 port with any number of maps and return it to stock whenever you want in a couple of minutes. If you get the handlebar mount you can even swap maps while you’re out on the bike.

Without the immobilizer I think the swap idea would work. US bikes do not have the immobilizer, not sure where else Yamaha may sell the bike without it though.

mine is a Gen 1 S10 therefore, no OBD port to plug into.
working out a deal for a totalled S10 that's parting up.
trying to absorb more info before I commit.

thats what I thought so too.
but over here in sunny Singapore, the version of the S10 shld be euro spec (with hazard light flashers) & immobiliser equipped.

so if I would send the ECU to reflash, mostly to fine tune the low torque & perhaps FC rate, will the flashing remove the immobiliser mode or retainable?

anyone knows?

Since it’s a Gen 1, have you tried just disconnecting the O2 sensors, because the base open loop map it defaults to is pretty good? It may save all the ecu swapping (which is a pain on the S10!).

I think you need to make sure the software they are using for the reflash is for the euro-spec bikes. I saw a post here where an owner from Canada (which also have the immobilizer) sent his ECU for reflash in the US. When he got the ECU back his bike would not start. Not sure how that was ever resolved.

hi!
thanks for the suggestion.
but due to the local road legality issues, I am unable to omit those else I would be failing the mandatory yearly road worthy test & attracting unwarranted fines.
having read through all, flashing the ECU is still ultimately the best option to go unless leaving it stock.
