Hey guys

I recently installed the Eastern Beaver 3 Circuit Solution HD for New Super Tenere. I ran into an issue with the female plug supplied not fitting the OEM male from the 2014 yamaha super tenere es. It was no big deal and ended up cutting off the eastern beaver supplied female plug and using a t tap to the brown wire for the "accessory on" wire. I was thinking when then website said "new super tenere" they meant a 2018 model. Anybody else have this problem?

I used the 3 Circuit solution instead of the PC8 due to free space issue on the ES model. The eastern beaver is being used to power my advmotard dash panel infill

I added an EB 3cs a while back to my 2016 non-ES S10. It plugged into the accessory plug with no issue. So I don't have a solution. Might be something to ask EB about. Perhaps it was an odd time they attached the wrong end to the wire. I can't tell from the video, but the EB end appeared to have the correct general form factor, though it obviously didn't fit. I suppose it's possible Yamaha changed something, but my understanding of "new" is that it refers to 2014+ models for now. I suppose that wont be the case forever.

I do feel the need to lodge a complaint about your very clean and uncluttered garage. Are you some sort or warlock? o_O

Glad you were able to tap it. I went with their S10 kit to specifically avoid that and it worked fine. It would be good to let them know as they may not be aware of a potential production issue.

Thanks for the info Rich I’ll shoot them an email and give them a heads up. Haha and yes I’m kind of a neat freak when it comes to the garage but I recently purchased this home after living with mom and dad for 6 years after college and decided I wanted to have a perfectly organized garage because I love working on cars and detailing them (their garage was a mess but I can’t blame them the raised 4 kids and 3 dogs), so the first Major project I after closing was coat the floors, install the cabinets and wall slats.

hi Rich,

Bummer about the connector but great help thx for the post. i had two question, why did you not just plug the accessories directly into the OEM 3 plug since it is fused and where did you get the great infill dash.

thx

You didn't make it easy to see, but it appears that you did not remove the blank plug from the Yamaha Acc plug. The connector is not just hanging there ready to plug in, there is a blank plug installed with three plugs in the blank that you remove if you're going to use it with wires. You have to dis-connect the two white OEM 3 connectors before you can plug in the EB plug.

To further elaborate, the white OEM 3 connector comes apart. What you're trying to plug into is the wire harness end of a connector, not the pin end.

It would be a Good Idea™ to take that apart, remove your wire tap and do it correctly, in terms of potential long term corrosion and reliability issues.

I GET IT, thx, so plug could have fit.

There is 20A switched in this OEM plug, could you not just plug in a EB3 w/o a relay? AND if so could you trickle charge through this connection w/o threatening the OEM stuff it goes through?

Pics of the white OEM 3 connector you should have removed.

Note the hole in the last pic. That's where the mating prong that locks them together fits.

Sorry for the redundancy. :)

Yes, in theory, but the wiring is pretty small gauge for that activity. Most people install a fused SAE plug direct to the battery and plug a maintenance tender into that. I have, on my previous bikes, also used a fused BMW style outlet strait to the battery for garage charging with my Optimate 3. I had to change the plug on the charger to a mating one, of course.

Hey Eric

Let me rehash this. So when I looked at the super 10 I saw two plugs. A 4 plug and a 3 plug. On the 3 plug there were 3 rubber gromets protecting the connecter, I removed those then tried to plug in the eastern beaver female plug. But your saying there is another cover I need to remove from the s10 3 plug? I’ll pull it apart and check again.

Yes, the three rubber grommets are actually plugs where you would feed wires thru to pins. This is a valid plug, you were just attempting to plug into the back side of it. I have removed that plug, pulled the rubber grommets out and fed wires thru, then installed pins on those wires and pulled them back into the connector to seat/lock them in, viola, you have a factory female plug.

In your case, that white 3 plug is actually two plugs connected together. There is a plastic lock tab to depress/lift and they will pull apart, revealing the male connector that the EB plugs into.

The 4 plug is the same, it's capped by the mating side of the connector with the rubber grommets filling the holes where wires would run if it was in use.

FWIW, the pictures are of the end you will remove. This is left over from my Super Ten when I installed the EB PC-8.

Post #7 in this thread shows pics of the stock OEM 3 connector that is removed when you want to plug in a plug and play items like the PC-3/8.

Glad I could explain it so it was clear. Nice to see you sorted it out. Less chance of issues down the road. That connector can be a pain to separate. :p

The panel infill is metal. The right side is held in place by the OEM cigarette lighter socket and the left side is zip tied, no cutting or drilling required. You can see the zip tie location in the first post.
