Hello, I am so glad to find this forum. I am a future Super Tenere rider. I current ride a super reliable, fun, comfortable, and economical Honda NT700V, which I will keep for local road trips. I am up for trying more manageable off road excursions in addition to my road tours. I am fortunate to live between the mountains and beaches with both offering excelling rides. I did some research on the ST and other ADV bikes and determined the ST is the best adventure bike for what I want to do. I also look for good value and low cost of ownership. The cost, shaft drive, cruise control, upright adjustable riding position, comfort, nice exhaust note, and Yamaha relability are key selling features. I seem to live in an area with little newer ST owners willing to sell. Usually "reasonable" sellers are 4+ hours away or more. I am a kick the tires kind of person, so I need to see it and experience the ride before a commitment. I will be attending the International Motorcycle Show in my area to just sit on 2023 model. Later in March I will hit up Yamaha Demo Days to test ride 2023 T and ST. I saw a few for sale or sold STs on this forum and was impressed with the owners candid and transparent descriptions of their well cared for bikes. Many are so well accessorized (farkle). Hopefully later this season or next I will find my dream machine. I know this forum will be an excellent resource, good way to interact, get involved, and make new memories. Nice to meet you all. I wish you the best for 2023 season.

Welcome, from Texas. I completely agree with testing before buying. That being said, I didn't even test ride my Tenere before I bought it. I knew I wanted this type of bike. I also knew that being Yamaha, everything would be fine. (I've ridden Yamahas since '79, and both my boys are Yamaha disciples) As it turned out, the Tenere is my favorite bike ever.

Same as Sierra1 above, I'd ridden enough to know that the Super Tenere would be a good fit for me and although I sat on it I hadn't ridden it before purchase. 3 S10's later I'm just as enamored with it. That said, a test ride is always best. Enjoy your process!
