No, because he didn't know he had put it in gear. I can see him dismounting, then letting the clutch out only to have the bike lurch and fall over.

In the basic rider course they teach you to always hold the front break when mounting or dismounting, regardless if the engine is running or not.

I never get off the bike with it running, but I get on it all the time while running. Guess I'll have to start rethinking doing that, although I always look down and make sure I'm placing the top of my shoe on the peg. But mistakes can always happen... Guess I'll start to just swing my leg over, just takes a little more effort :D

I think this is really good advice. Because of my switch to this bike I don't have my garage door opener in a good spot so I use the keypad. I have been leaving the bike running to dismount and operate the keypad....no more!

I'm lazy, I always leave the bike in gear after having one roll off the side stand, I tend to stop with the clutch in, bike in first, kick the stand down which kills the engine then I get off.
