We believe the ABS system is dramatically improved over what was previously available to consumers. That said, there’s no question you need to be able to disable ABS. For those who ride off road, disabling your ABS is a serious part of the enjoyment, as well as – I believe – a safety concern in downhill situations.

We evaluated the ABS system, and found a clean plug-and-play solution that provides an on-dash switch to disable it.

It was important to us that you would not need to hack the wiring loom, so we’ve identified OEM-like terminals so this is a true plug-and-play application. We also wanted high-end, truly waterproof switches while keeping them small. What is left to figure out is location and other options to incorporate.

We’ve played around with several different dashboards to mount the toggle switch – tell us what you guys would prefer.
- Switch to the left of dash
- Switch below the dash (preferred location, because it gets the wiring out of the elements and overall cleaner appeal from the back)

Other options we’re thinking of while designing/prototyping, before this goes into production:
- Additional auxiliary cigarette lighter
- Optional mount location for heated grips controller
- Who is going with the OEM heated grips?
- Who is considering aftermarket options? (If we get enough interest, we’ll try to make the aftermarket heated grips plug-and-play, as well)

What are your thoughts?

If you add power outlets, don't make them cig lighter standard - should be BMW/Powerlet. Many of us are planning on replacing the one in the dash with BMW/powerlet - a kit to do this elegently would be a no-brainer seller.

The Yamaha heated grips have two issues: ridiculous cost and no flexibility to use grips of your own choice. I think this will limit the potential market. It sure puts them out of the running for me.

I've used the Symtec kit ($37 below) on four or five bikes with good results, but the wiring is always a PITA. A OEM deal to get the symtec system with a plug-and-play wiring loom and way to mount the switch could potentially result in a much cheaper heated grip option that could be used with grips of one's choice. It wouldn't have a reostat, but I'm of the opinion that reostats are an unnecessary, expensive, and somewhat unreliable complication - BMW's typically come from the factory with hi-lo grip switches and they work fine.

Jeremy, I will second the Symtecs. I have them on both of my bikes and will go with them on the Tenere too. If you could offer them with the wiring harness already set up that would be great. Make the ABS disable and heated grip switch and Powerlet all on one plate. I like the look below the insturment panel instead of to the side.

The Yamaha heated grips with the cables blocking the instrument panel is just completely stupid and a deal breaker for me. The HDB bar bracket looks like an excellent solution for the ABS switch location.

For thos who have ordered the HDB Switch bracket, here is a place to put the switch.
Sweet! My kitchen floor is famous! Ha. Thanks, Hoebster. That was the photo I took before mounting that HDB top clamp on my WRR.

This next image isn't mine, but gives an idea of the push button switches that fit in the HDB top clamp and may or may not work for the ABS disable switch. Would be great if they did. This would be a good platform for all manner of gadget switches including the ABS switch and even heated grip hi/lo switches. Jeremy, nice work making plug and play options. Nothing like clicking plugs together rather than stripping wires, soldering, shrink tube, etc.
