600lbs . . . . what 600lbs? Rode it like a mad man. I noticed that the fan was on most of the time. Easily the biggest bike out there that day.

LOL - Got back yesterday from Kauai, which is my favorite island by far.
Waimea Canyon imho is more beautiful than the Grand Canyon.

Watched the sea turtles come in at Po'ipu Beach at sunset.

Rented a Jeep rather than a bike this time and did OK for a while on what's left of the trail to the Jurassic Park movie set gates. All that is left are two huge poles, 3.5 miles down this trail.

Stopped where the stream crossing shown in the opening of the movie is about half crumbled with swift water and boulders on it:

Had to do the ATV tour:

Got a bit muddy:

Favorite was a boat tour up the west Na'Pali Coast with some snorkeling:

Maybe one day I will be able to go to Hawaii
I hope so lund. It really is a modern day paradise. The people, the culture, the food (!) and the beauty of all the land. On Ohau, I was surprised to see so many sport bikes riding at night. I asked one of them why. The rider told me that traffic is too congested during the day, so many opt to ride at night. Supercars were in the mix too. It wasn't for an event or anything; just riding and driving. Crazy but they said there's no deer around so they push at a pretty good pace. Definitely a unique group riding environment. Lol.

Protected?
Very much so!

IMHO -
Oahu is seemingly half Honolulu, a third the military bases, and the rest is the north side. To me it feels like a western suburb of Los Angeles.
Maui has gotten too touristy.
The Big Island is really low key and has all the conveniences. It has enough room to breath and move around.
Kauai is the oldest and most natural fighting off overdevelopment. It has no highways, everybody knows each other, & it's expensive, but the most beautiful and still laid back like the Big Island.

Went to Molokai earlier this year. It is more sparsely populated. They do want tourists to visit, leave their money, then go home. We rented scooters for a day and rode about half the island.

Went back to Oahu and rented a weestrom for a day. Lots of traffic, get in line, and circle the island.

Big Island most versitile.

Thanks for sharing that vid. Dude got great skills.
That ground was hard packed. I was hoping to see some soft sand surfing as well.

I noticed he got the fat ass ISM ADV II pegs on his ride.

Those are huge... I bought the ones without the width extension and didn't like them. I was afraid to get bit by them :)
IMS ADV I (dude in the vid got the ADV II) vs stock pegs

I've been living on Hawaii Island for about a year. I haven't ridden as much as I'd like (the house to-do list has been lengthy) but riding here is decidedly more varied than the other islands and the variety of terrain keeps you from getting bored. Traffic is better but rush hour backups can be bad around Hilo and Kona. Great roads, especially around the NW part of the island. Plus the weather can be unpredictable.

I'd recommend that if you're going to visit Maui, there are a few outfits that rent maxi-scooters that'll comfortably get you all over the island. A twist-and-go scooter on the tight, winding roads makes for a much more enjoyable ride.

I've been considering downsizing from my S10, though. Too many places here I'd like to explore that aren't really suited for a large (heavy) ADV bike. But a disadvantage of living on an island in the middle of the pacific is your choices of available models can be really limited. Very few dealers on the island... the Harley dealership closed it's doors in April. Of course, that can be said of a lot of things here. "You can't always get what you want... but you get what you need."

That place was SO antagonistic to people walking in the front door it is no loss and somebody sooner or later will see a new opportunity.
