I may be transferring overseas in the near future, and the dealer network where I'm going isn't likely to have the proper service manuals since the S10 isn't sold there. Is it possible to get the dealership manuals, so I can bring them with me?

I might be mistaken, but I think you can buy them from Yamaha for around $75. Seems I saw them on the Yamaha USA motor website

I appreciate all the info, and I did read that thread on "free" online vs legitimate publication. Is there just the one main service manual, or are there separate manuals for the mechanic vs the dealership/service department? Or maybe there's a mechanic's manual that isn't model-specific but does cover Yamaha-approved repair procedures in more specific detail than the service manual does? I want to be sure I have every possible publication in-hand, and I want paper only since that doesn't require electricity to work. Mechanics in India aren't always the most knowledgeable (had one press a carrier bearing onto a driveshaft using a hammer and a block of wood once).

That can be done, without problems. And no harm to either bearing or shaft.

If you have a trusted dealership near you now, I would check with them for what they have, but as I recall the factory service manual fro $90 lined above is the same as what any dealer would have...
