I love my 2012 it's a great machine and I've farkled it to hell it's probably going to be my retirement trip bike buut it's looking rather dated in some areas and I'm a bit jealous.

Has anyone modded a current Gen dash Display onto a '12 "first Gen" if so how hard is it or is it plug and play?

I do a lot of night riding and the orange doesn't do it for me and the first Gen dash is the last thing I can't stand about this bike.

You could look at doing what a lot of off roaders do and fit a Trail Tech Vapour dash. Adding one to a basic dual purpose bike is one thing, adding one to the S10 is something else, there are going to be a lot of wires going to the S10 clocks.

Kinda what I figured but then dash displays just receive information the computer doesn't care what they look like so had hopes it would work.

Thanks all.

Not to mention that the Gen II bikes control a lot of functions via the dash like heated grips and adjusting the time, etc by cycling thru the ECU functions. You'd need to change the switchgear, ECU and dash, among other things, and if you have factory heated grips, it will impact that too.

All things being what they are, who cares what it looks like if it works and does what you want it to do? As for the orange display, talk to a speedometer repair shop in your area and see if they can change the display color. I haven't taken the S10 display apart, but on some displays it's as simple as a different color film or bulbs. Oznium.com has surface mount LEDs in many styles and colors, you may need to figure out what is used on the S10 display, order them up and change them, or have them changed, if that's how the dash color is emitted. YouTube link for an example on a car. Fast forward to 3 min to the start of taking apart the dash.

If you were more specific about your location, others might be better able to suggest resources. I couldn't find anything in Shreveport area, but you might be able to. Or give these folks a call and see what they have to say.

Even though I have a Gen 2, I like the analog tach!

i was told that if it can be changed, change it, if it can't be changed, do it anyway.... just don't be the first
As I've gotten older, everything has became risk/investment v. reward. I don't mind being first. . . . as long as it's worth it. :)

My First S 10 was a 2014 ES, I sold it a few years ago at a profit (like a dummy). I just bought a 2013 and it is terrific but I miss some of the cool Gen 2 stuff. heated grips, cruise, and gear indicator.

But I still love this new girl and she only had 3300 miles on her. Gonna farkle it up as I go. That is half the fun.
