DAKAR “Tenere 450” racing, like the T7?

I’ve been watching the highlights on you tube each night. I’ve also been watching the Yamaha guys do a good job. Anyhow, has anyone looked at the Dakar Yamaha race bikes? They basically look just like the new T7 (Tenere 700). The Dakar bikes are limited to a 450cc motor.
So, is Yamaha testing the new Tenere 450 in the Dakar right now? Looks like a very good possibility to me.
Check out stage 5-6 I think. Good coverage on the Yamaha’s. One of the factory guys looks like he crashed out today, but get a good close up of the bikes. It’s a Tenere 450, that looks just like the T7.

no, they don't look like the new Tenere - Tenere looks like Dakar Rally bikes, as yamaha applies Dakar styling to their all Teneres.
Yamaha YZE850T Super Tenere won I believe 7 Dakar Rallies so no wonder why.

Current Yamaha rally bike is based on WR450F since years now and has nothing to do with new tenere.

I agree though would be much better if the new tenere was 450cc with less weight accordingly.
Either T7 and the new ktm 790 adv r are much heavier then we asked for.

I surely could be wrong, but I'll try and go back and take a few screen shots of the bike I was looking at. Ill post it up, looks just like a T7 to me

Your correct. The WR450 Rally 'Dakar'... The T7 headlights 'look', and "Tenere" threw me off... LOL. Who knows with any of these companies, you could see something new at anytime. LOL.


The bike being carried away is from the hurt rider. They flew him and his bike away out of the desert.

I had the same thought as well, when I saw "TENERE" plastered on the sides of the bikes where you couldn't miss it!

That's just the stickers probably to promote tenere, but all team uses:

"Yamalube Yamaha Rally team riders are all-set to take on the 2019 Dakar aboard the newest edition of the WR450F Rally works machine. "

Yea, for sure... I must have been really tired, LOL. I was watching some Dakar and the Yamaha guys were riding though this huge wash out. The camera man was filming the guys leaving this 'cave' looking valley. There was one shot that at the time, I thought looked just like the T7. Im guessing that is where my brain became "confused"... LOL.
They all look good, and they are doing great ! All the best to the racers !

Probably if it didn’t compromise cooling. My 660 grizzly has single head pipe
