Hi all.
I wondered if anyone of you is using any "airbag " for our bike.
Being Italian and living not too far from Dainese head quarter I thought I would like to buy one of theirs...
There are a lot on the market and I wouldn't know which one to go for so any comments/ tips would be appreciated.
Thanks guys

A number of people here have inflatable vests or jackets. Mine is a Helite vest like this. I've had a couple of minor get-offs and had it deploy so can tell you that it does work, both inflating before I'm aware, and immobilizing my neck.

Another good video by FourtNine:

It's the one in the first video with a leash to connect. The hardest part is remembering to snap the buckle after getting on the bike. Not much of a problem anymore because I got in the habit of having to have it buckled before putting my gloves on. I'd put my gloves on the seat and leave the strap over them.

I've occasionally gotten off the bike before disconnecting and it takes such a hard pull that it's never gone off inadvertently.

For length of the leash, when I stand on the pegs the leash is slightly pulling.

Is it reusable? Or change a gas cilinder every time?

On a recent trip a couple of the guys had them, the tethered type were more popular as they don't have batteries that need charging and they can be refilled by fitting a new cartridge.

2 of them had the Alpine stars airbags but one of them activated when the rider was slapped on the back, it sounded like a gun shot, the concern was how little pressure it took to activate it and the fact it happened on day 1 meaning he had no protection for the rest of the trip, it will also cost £140 and 14 days to send it back to be recharged.

I didn't even realize that they're Italian too...
The shop is kind of too far away but I might find a retailer (?) around. here.
Thanks a lot
I am actually reconsidering the Dainese one...

The cylinder was $25.

Very easy to replace.

There's no way the thing will activate without a very strong pull.
What is different between this and other threaded CO2 cartridges that are widely available and much cheaper?

So....
After more research and following your advice I ended buying a mechanical one, made in Italy...
One of my brothers chose the Dainese one, so I will be able to compare the two choices and see what was best option over the incoming years......
Guess only time will tell....IMG_20220116_111521.jpgIMG_20220116_111629.jpg

Here is on sale for 600€...
Being in the UK and buying at the price is definitely a very good deal.
I like it a lot but I preferred the mechanical one, we will see...

I have a 'Hit-air' Japanese one... I've had one since 2006. They have been around a long time but with almost no publicity. To be honest I never wear it. It the tethered type btw.
