If by ballast you are referring to the rear portion of the light body, which often contains a fan or heat sink, most sellers offer measurements on their auction or ads. Compare that with the Cyclops dimensions before ordering if you need to get a different set.

No, that is good, it is the small "box" that is in the wiring. Pretty sure I have one that will not fit in that space between the lens and housing, so it looks like my truck, which has crappy lights anyway and are H7's will get them.

We'll, that's annoying. At least the truck gets an upgrade. :). The A385 kit I mentioned above does not have inline ballasts. It is a fan style. There are heat sink style ones w/o inline ballasts too.

I'm assuming a blue tint indicates it is starting to fail. Not sure cyclops lasts long enough. I've replaced one already. I may need to look at cheaper alternatives.

I had two failures also in a short period of time, I think the “improved” ones have different temperature (color). I’m done with cyclops....

I found, even with the "improved" version, they only last around 20-30K miles. I replaced them with something else, not worth the cost.

Which version of the Novsight do you have? Some have no inline ballast. I'm running a pair of A385-N7-H7 versions.
So what is the purpose of the ballast anyway? Some bulbs have them some don't yet seem to share similar specifications. I noticed the replacement set I installed (can't recall the name) didn't have them. One of them didn't work until I reversed the plug. Thinking I got lucky with the Cyclops or maybe the ballast lets you plug them in either way? If that's all it does it's not worth the hassle of fitting it somewhere.

I don't think there's anything special about the Cyclops bulbs. They're just repackaged and re-priced versions of the ones you can find on ebay and Amazon. It strikes me how ironic the name of the company is given that I could only keep one or the other of them consistently working!

I also went to the much less expensive Novasight when a Cyclops failed. There's a thread about them.

Do the Novsight A385-N7-H7 work with the Cyclops covers? Is the 9006 base correct?

I see it is the H-7 base. I ended up with these.

A little higher cost than the Novsight, supposedly a little brighter, and 360 degree output. They do fit fine with the Cyclops covers. I tried to order the Novsight model referenced above, but it looked like they were coming via literal slow boat from China. Since they have a two year warranty, and came in a pair, I pulled the 8 month one good Cyclops bulb for a spare. What a pain to get it out with the ballast...

I got 20Kmi on the first bulb and about 26kmi on the second. Not that bad, but they are overpriced given the current competition.
