I agree..Madhatter said:ill be cutting plastic before long.
Why have a cooling fan then cover it and not allow it to serve its purpose?

well after 2 years on mine, one is working like at 50%. Did not take it out to check. but definitely something wrong happen. That is why I designed the caps on my 3d printer since they hare 20% bigger and I can fit other led models tha I will buy an try soonJeff M said:Cyclops did a test where it disables the fans and the bulbs worked fine , the fans give them longevity. Mine with extended caps have worked fine for 2 years now in the HOT Florida climate. Buddy of mine has extended caps in the sale of the site if you want some . Now that I said something I hope they last another 2 years !!! ::012::

Get to an auto parts store, and buy a (H4?) replacement.sallydog said:so i had a 3 month old cyclops bulb go out. the fan on the bulb works but no light. they are out of the office till Monday and im leaving Tuesday morning on a road trip. any suggestions?
i have the original bulb to use until i can get a replacement.. but it is yellow compared to all the other lights. can i get a white one at the auto parts store?mebgardner said:Get to an auto parts store, and buy a (H4?) replacement.
Sure, swap in a halogen bulb, then have Cyclops ship a new bulb to a destination on your trip, then swap the LED in when you get there.sallydog said:so i had a 3 month old cyclops bulb go out. the fan on the bulb works but no light. they are out of the office till Monday and im leaving Tuesday morning on a road trip. any suggestions?
$25 for a halogen one at oriely... this aint a bmw. ill live with white and yellow for this tripEricV said:Sure, swap in a halogen bulb, then have Cyclops ship a new bulb to a destination on your trip, then swap the LED in when you get there.
As for the one yellow bulb, one white effect, consider it a great conversation starter.
The problem with that method is that dirt can get in to the inside of the lens where it can't be cleaned. Every dirt road you go down will have that fan suckling dust into that headlight assembly. Shouldn't be long till you notice it. I would get the bigger cups. There is even 3xl cups available onlineRamseybella said:I don't know the diameter of the Cyclops fan housing but these are G9 and it fit right to the edge.
I didn't take my time making measurements just kept removing material till the fan just squeezed in without binding to the ID of the hole.
The connectors i found a happy place for them to cram into. If the Cyclopes has a larger plug end you may have to mod the cap to run it outside.
For now i have 65k Ferry light, it's better than the Standard halogen, reaches out a little more but did this because i was tired of dumping money every year or twice a year on a set of $40.00+ halogens.
I admit my night vision has turning to crap it did pickup some Mule Deer on the side and in the road last night's test ride in the mountains.
I also had my crash bar LED's running as i always do.
I may buy something brighter or a different color more natural down the road but if these prove to be more economical that's fine with me.
The H7 plate comes off the LED so you can snap the clip retainers on first then twist and lock in the lamps.
If you have a Dash infill it needs to come off, i have squeezed my hand in under the board to replace a bulb a couple times but it took some flesh with it. :'(
So the riders that commented that they have been running them with no covers and not noticing any dust or even water inside the light housing after two years or more is complete BS? : Not a joke I'm serious..sallydog said:The problem with that method is that dirt can get in to the inside of the lens where it can't be cleaned. Not BS, it means they don't ride dirt roads. I broke off the usb connector cover on my cell phone. Galaxy S5 Sport, dustproof/waterproof rugged design. 2 yrs of phone mounted on handlebars w/o cover my screen is almost completely obsured and darkened with dust. 2 yrs of same use prior to this the screen was perfect. If dust can penetrate a teeny little mini connector port and permeate a tightly sealed phone enclosure I can only imagine what it would do with open headlight caps in a dusty environment.Ramseybella said:So the riders that commented that they have been running them with no covers and not noticing any dust or even water inside the light housing after two years or more is complete BS? : Not a joke I'm serious..
I will keep an eye open from time to time and follow up.
