Curious about this 2014

I was shopping around seeing what was out there for S10s and came across this 2014, actually, I saw two of these for sale at the same time in PA about 100-150 miles apart at different dealers; both looked exactly the same. Both sold within a couple of weeks after seeing the ads. Normally the matted gray doesn't catch my eye but the added red had me saying that looks nice. I wish I had called the dealer earlier, I called a few weeks after I saw to ask some questions and learned it had been sold. The sales guy remembered the bike but nothing specific about it. On the red detailing, did that come from the factory that way or is that aftermarket? The seat to me looks like a Sargent, am I correct on that?? My first thought when I saw two of these looking exactly that same someone was doing this aftermarket, am I correct on that??

The description of the bike made no mention of the extra detailing but it did say it had a chip in the key for extra security. When I saw that I wondered if the bike was originally sold in Canada because FJRs north of the border has the chip and ones sold in the USA don't. Does that apply to the S10s as well, USA no chip and Canadian yes?

Just curious about this one and trying to learn what I can as I look around. Thanks!!

Looks like it's got some World Crosser graphics on it although they are located in different places to the norm

The World Crosser decal kits are sold aftermarket and clearly a previous owner used one of those. Canadians get chips and the US doesn't so your suspicion is probably right.

Yes, the seat looks like a Sargent. Just like on the FJR, people love or hate the seat on the Tenere.

The bar extenders are aftermarket and between the tires, lack of side bars, no skid plate, and lack of dings on the box, it looks like this has been a road bike. With the big fairing under the box, that has the electronic suspension.

Looks like there are a couple of Gen2 (2014+) bikes for sale here on the forum, sometimes Craigslist, and usually there are a couple at ADVRider.com
Soon as the snow melts in a month or so there ought to be a bunch. You could probably pick one up with the accessories already installed.

Happy hunting

What the thing that looks like some sort of tie-down? Goes from the front brake to the fork.

Yes, I definitely went aftermarket on my FJR seat. Lol. Unless Yamaha had a come to Jesus moment I was pretty sure the S10 seat would be no different. Thank you for confirming my thought that it was a Sargent.

I had the same thought as you about the lack of the skid plate and bars, it looked like it lived an easy life as a street bike. And yes it was an ES, only had 20,000 miles and at $8500 asking it was set up nice!! All I would have added to get started was a skid plate and sidebars..........oh and different tires and I would have been off to a pretty good start.

I'm pretty sure that's just the sales tag. You're just seeing it on edge, so it looks like a strap or other oddity.

That's what I was thinking, and you're probably right, but I would have thought it hung straight down.
