Mine is acting up. The yellow light (round button) comes on, no flashing, but the 'set' button doesn't work. After several miles it will work again. It is progressively getting worse. I have an appt in 2 weeks...I hope they can fix it, I've got a lot of trips stacked up (I know, I know, first world problems...) :)
My guess: sticky front or rear brake switches or clutch switch. You can check them by pulling the brake/clutch levers and slowly releasing them. Listen for clicking sounds from the switches while levers are released.

I lubed the switches last night and went for a short ride today and the cc worked every time....maybe fixed? Time will tell.
Lots of good responses on this thread, thanks to all!

Excuse the DUH! question.

I noticed the same problem yesterday. Amber light flashes. If I stop. Switch off and start, works fine.
For the switches test, when slowly released lever (front brake lever) creates a clicking (I hear 2 / 3 clicks) sound - does that mean switches are stuck?

For front brake lever test, slowly pull the level and you should hear a total of two clicks. Slowly release it and expect two clicks again. The first click when pulling is for cruise control and the second is the brake light switch. Most of the time the first switch is stuck, causing the SET button and green light to not working. Amber flashing is a separate problem.

If I stop the bike when on a ride, the ‘amber’CC light - when you press the CC button the light that turns on on the dash - comes on and stays on. Then when I ride off, the CC works ok. If I turn it off and later try to engage CC, the amber CC light flickers, and CC won’t engage.

Took the path of least resistance.
Found the clutch and front brake switches. Going under and inside the hand guards, I saw a lot of dust and dirt (wonder where all that came from ).
The levers press on a pin to engage the switch. I cleaned out the dirt with contact cleaner.

Asides:
First time I noticed the dreaded 090 diagnostic code on the dash. While that was on, the CC light flashed when turned on. Turned off the bike. Did the clean up. Power on and no diagnostic and the CC light stays on.

+++++++

Test Ride:
Short quick 10mile ride just completed.

Pleased to report CC worked as it should. Went through CC engaged, cruise, disengage randomly with front brake, rear brake and clutch. Seems OK.

Some relief. A better test will be a possible long ride this coming weekend.

++++++

I’ve put in about 350miles over the long weekend riding the lower North GA back roads. Please to report that the CC flickering issue seems to have been resolved. Works every time I engaged it, disengage and engage again. Phew. But something I’ll be keeping an eye on.

Wow, lots of guys with same problem. Mine spent 2 weeks at the local dealer (under warranty). They said they "adjusted" the brake lever but could never replicate the problem. Worked fine on the ride home for me. Last night on a ride, it did it again. Stopped for dinner and worked fine on the way back home. Frustrating. Guess I'll try to lube both switches.
