I know you're joking but it really is eye opening what can be done once somebody has your SS# and address, especially if they simply log onto Ancestry.com to get your easily provided birthplace and date. At that point if retired they can get your SS payments as a minimum and with not much more sleuthing into your bank & retirement accounts.

After I worked an accident years ago a father of a dead kid searched out somebody involved and stabbed him to death.

Just don't wait too long - if everything goes to plan we expect to relocate to your side of the pond in 2023 and stay on the road for a few years.

The way the US SS# System is a gateway to abuse is really scary and I wonder why it’s never been put in question. It’s a uniquely US issue. Back in Germany “identity theft” didn’t exist because you can’t just steal someone’s identity with just a number.
