Coupling Gear Wear

I recently replaced the Pinion oil seal. It still weeps a little. I recently rode 4,000 kms and it never leaked but wept from where the shaft bolts to the swing arm. When I replaced the seal I noticed a slight groove which had been worn by the seal into the coupling gear. Should I replace the coupling gear?

To clarify, look at this diagram and let us know what part number you replaced? (1-51)

I replaced oil seal number 14. I am thinking I may need to replace part number 15 which has a slight groove made by the oil seal.

I have never needed to tear into that area. How many kms on the bike? I'd consider replacing 39 and 13 as well if you take it apart again. Sorry to not be more help. There are a few on this board that have done work to the final drives that may have more info.

Did you get it straightened out?

With the title I opened this thread expecting something more like this:

I've replaced #15 two time. I get about 30,000 miles on it and get the groove cut into it and some weeping oil. Not sure if you plan to put a lot of miles on but here is a permanent fix I did to mine. https://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?threads/super-tenere-gear-coupling-keeps-wearing-out-fixed.27516/#post-390846
Thanks for that Bigguy!! I would just replace the coupler myself. But boy they sure are pricy. Your machining skills are awesome and smart choice using the 17-4 hardened stainless. Now that part will never wear out!!

I haven't replaced the coupling gear yet. I did a 4,000 km trip just before Corona Virus went crazy. There was some weepage but not a lot. I have a replacement seal but think replacing the gear coupler is the answer. All the Yamaha stores are closed in Mexico at the moment so I will wait.
I took my front wheel off recently and noticed that a dust seal had worn on the metal spacer in the same way.
