I'm on a long trip through Spain / Portugal, and it's a little bit warmer over here than it is at home (Belgium) My topcase converted into a cheese-fondue !
Yesterday I bought me a sleepingmatras and and taped it on the covers off my cases. Put the rest of it in the inside of the topcase. I hope it will help.
Biggest problem is the black color of the cases.
It doesn't look pretty, but it's temporally. Will do something more efficient and better looking durig the winter months. If anyone has some good ideas or advice, I'd like to hear. On't rush, I'll be home in november, some plenty of time to think about it.

I have the same luggage and know exactly what your talking about, to bad mine are black the silver color would have been my choice but black is what came with my first Tenere, I have wondered about maybe painting them but so far haven’t attempted it.

I purchased silver reflective vinyl from Amazon and put it on my side cases to improve visibility from behind. I think it would work well to reflect heat from the sun on your top case.

It's pretty cheap stuff and it isn't too hard to work with if you take your time, use some heat from a heat gun or blow dryer, and have a friend to help.

Can you show a picture of the inside of the case?

Are you looking for something temporary or replaceable? is appearance important?

In the interim, Try freezing (2) 1 L bottles of water and pack them inside the case with everything else as a heat mass. It takes a lot of energy to convert 1.07 L of ice at 0 C to 1 L of water at 0 C. I generally wrap everything in towels or pack a sleeping bag around them. I do this when I pack beverages for hot weather rides or classes and I still have some ice left at the end of a hot day.

I don't know what kind of heat One-S is dealing with. And, Wallkeeper's idea is pretty good. There's an air gap between the inner, and outer walls of the box(es). It's likely very small. If you could fill the air gap with foam insulation, that would help a lot. But, at a certain point, there's nothing to do about the heat. It's gonna win.

After calling it a day, put a wet towel over the pannier, cools immediately.
I have no smart idea for coolness inside during the trip.
My grey cases definitely don’t get so hot inside, I noticed that since I have them..
Have a safe trip and keep the shining side up my dear Belgian Friend, Enjoy…260FC699-9C89-4264-81C0-67FD552188D8.jpeg

Am thinking of getting some panniers in the near future. Aside from color preferences, is there an advantage in getting a set in natural aluminum finish vs black? Heat resistance? Scratch n' dent repair?

While this is strictly anecdotal, I have experienced less thermal transfer with raw aluminum vs black. On previous bikes with black luggage I always noticed my gear was warm to the touch when unpacking and I always had to be cautious when storing certain edible items (candy, hard cheese, etc.). This has not been an issue with my aluminum panniers. Now, there are a lot of factors that could explain this (lower temps, more shade, more volume, etc.) but that's been my experience. Your mileage may vary.

My wife purchased a couple of meal kits off of one of those weekly meal club things and the frozen food came in these bags that have about 40 very fine layers of what feels like craft paper, with a ziplock top (the purpose is that the bag is totally biodegradable). i've used these forever in my top box and even on extremely long rides these things keep my drinks, food or even my phone at the same temperature I put it in.

I've since just taken the material and lined the top with it, and it's worked out spectacular
