2014 S10 10K miles noticed some oxidation near the water pump where the cylinder meets with crankcase with gasket in between
Any one experience anything like this

Is it under warranty? Extended?

Looks like you need a new base gasket.
I have seen this before but not on a Tenere. Very rare.

The base gasket is probably not expensive. The head studs are expensive. Head gasket is relatively expensive.
If you like I can answer any questions you have. I’ve pulled these motors down before.

Just for my curiosity, can you pull the cylinder head and the cylinder with the engine in the frame? Many bikes you can but I have ran into some where it was difficult/impossible without removing the engine.

The leak is where the big hole/coolant passage is from the pump up to the cylinder
Looks like there is a o-ring and some bushing in there that is sandwiched between cylinder and crankcase according to the picture from shop manual

the question would be…how to change the base gasket, without removing the head gasket?…I think it is impossible ( you have to disassemble the entire upper part of the engine). I would leave it like that, I would review the tightening of the screws that hold the whole assembly….and I would wait….if water leaks into the oil …..that would be the moment

Yes. Takes a little patience, but not a big deal.

I would be worried that it breaching into the oil would NEVER be a good time. My luck I would be traveling cross country when it it breached.
I would want that fixed ASAP.

And of course the warranty expired last year

And the million dollar question is how much will it cost to fix it and is there a dealer or bike shop in New Jersey that can be trusted with that repair

It's just that I don't understand why there is a loss of water in the base gasket...if that gasket is only to prevent oil leakage. the body of the cylinders, is closed at the bottom for the water….the water circulates inside the cylinder, but it does not pass downwards

I know that the best thing would be to disassemble the engine and change the oring and the gasket….but being something so minimal…. a very good quality StopLeak?……I have used them, and it really is amazing how they stop a leak (a hole in the radiator) in a few minutes. I never repaired the radiator and it continued to work like this for several years.

Before I decide to tear it down I will definitely try the sealer

For now I just cleaned the area really good and I will put some uv dye in to the coolant and wait for it to appear
Maybe it was some weird oxidation l hope
The coolant level is at high mark in the reservoir

Looks like you guys are correct... Maybe a faulty O-Ring... Either way, looks like to fix the O-Ring it would need to be pulled down (taken apart). Great time to see if there are any other hidden gems around that O-Ring, or base gasket. If the O-Ring is leaking towards the outside, is it leaking towards the inside ? ?
