I know, another tire thread.

I need to replace my front tire, and have been thinking about the Continentals.

I have heard some good reviews, but when I when to look them up online, I noticed there is a Continental Road Attack and Trail Attack. I ride about 99% on pavement, so I was thinking about the Road Attack over the Trail Attack, but the bottom line is I want the best handling in both wet and dry conditions with some reasonable wear.

So my question is to the riders that have purchased and ridden on Continentals tires, what are your opinions of these two revisions of tires. I am not looking for a comparisons of other brands of tires, I have probably tried them out, I am just interested in the Continentals, good or bad.

Thanks

I won a set of Road Attacks at a dealer meeting and gave them a try. I only ran them about 2500 miles and to me they cupped out a lot more at that mileage than I thought they should. Other than that, I can't say anything good or bad about them. Right now I've got 1500 miles on a set of Dunlop Road Smart 3's (500 in rain) and so far I'm vey impressed with them. Great traction wet or dry.

I can't speak for the contis, although I've always considered them when looking for new shoes. I'm interested to hear the feedback.

One reason I've kept away from contis are just what was said - they seem to cup for whatever reason. Had some contis on my VFR and wasn't the biggest fan - cupping and they grabbed the groves in SoCal too much.

Right now I'm running Pirelli Scorpion Rally STRs and love them for dry/wet riding. I'm probably 90-95% road, and I love that I can spear head fire trials without hesitation on the STRs, but still have fantastic road feel.

Next set I'm gonna try the Scorpion Trail II since I do ride mostly road.

Good luck!

I have a riding buddy, that have tried the Trail Attack, and there is no reason to take the Trail attack, over the Road Attack, because even the Trail Attack is no use in dirt...
But other than that, it was a god tire. that last OK, and he neve had problems in rain (but he always drive pretty safe in rain ;-) )
But if you go that way, don't take the Trail Attack, and think it will work in dirt...

I have a set Trail Attack 's ,got 7000 on them , they hook up good rain or shine and i do ride hard in the mountains . As for off road ,Trail riding is not bad but there not for dirt. I do ride a lot of pavement and boring Florida roads so I've flatten the centers a bit . As for cupping I just cleaned that up in the mountains , it had a little. Looks like I'll get 10 to 11k out of them, They feel safe, and would get another set but stay with the Trail's.

I have been running the Trail Attack 2 tires for a couple of years. Like you my riding is about 99% pavement. I go through 2-3 sets a year getting around 8K miles per set. The tread actually looks decent at 8K miles but (as stated above) they tend to cup giving bad performance in the twisties. My preference are the Michelin Pilot Road tires for ride and rain but since they have changed models (know on the 5's) they do not manufacture a tire for the front. :(
Hope this helps. -JEP-
