Constant visual inspections have been the key to success for me.

Just noting that at least once a week, i sit down next to my bike and look over everything. This is something i have done with all my bikes over the years.

I dont run any particular checklist like tclocs, i just start at one side and look over everything i can see with good light.

I frequently catch tiny issues before they become real problems.

This last time I found my coolant drain bolt had begun to weep a little. It just needed to be re torqued, but this could have become a real leak if left unattended.

What are your maintenance rituals?

No fluid beneath it when walking up, miles ridden in relation to when I expect the next fill, no odd sounds when starting out, handling not funky from soft tire(s). Good to go.

Seriously, I do take a look at the oil level and tire pressures on Sundays, but otherwise it's reliable as a rock.

Don't just look at it; touch it! Literally. Does a component wiggle / wobble / move more than it should?
Learned that from my thumper that shook everything loose. Found a loose windshield mount on the S10 this way recently.

Oh yeah.

I cut my teeth on 1970s hondas and harleys. There was always something coming loose.

Now i index my bolts so that i know at a glance if they are where i left them.

I use a dab of nail polish on the bolt and frame/block. You can chip it off with a credit card when you want to remove it.

Oil. . . . if I happen to be on that side; have never added to any bike that didn't start with B.
Tires. . . . First day of the week, and every other after that. . . . yes, I am a tad bit paranoid about my air pressure(s).
Like CW said, no puddles = no worries. The Honda ST would, every couple of years, start leaking out of the left fork, just the left fork. I was told that was because . . . . actually, I can't remember why.
